Alan king enjoyed a rewarding 2020/21 Jumps season when his 54 winners notched £793,401 in prize money. There was plenty of Saturday winners in the mix, too, to ensure his name remained in the spotlight.
Pride of place at Barbury Castle would surely go to Sceau Royal who successfully mixed hurdling with chasing in the highest grade last season and took the Welsh Champion Hurdle, Grade 2 Elite Hurdle and the Grade 2 Game Spirit Chase and is back with guns blazing after a summer break.
Potterman made a healthy contribution when chipping in with a victory in the stewards’ room in the bet365 Chase at Sandown on the final day of the season and there was plenty to like about hurdling recruit Tritonic who picked up the Grade 2 Adonis Hurdle at Kempton.
Canelo (Grade 3 Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby) and Notachance (Grade 3 Classic Handicap Chase at Warwick) were other notable shop window winners and King has plenty of young horses to go to war with in the juvenile division where he has prospered so well over the years.
Alan kindly spokes to Tony Elves for attheraces.com about his hopes for his team as the winter game proper rolls into action.
