Warren Greatrex has had a season he can certainly be proud of, recording 33 winners from only 137 runners at a remarkable strike rate of 24%, but the icing on the cake could be a major success for All In You in next month’s William Hill Hurdle at Newbury.
The six-year-old has already proven to be a shrewd purchase from the David Maxwell dispersal sale following a fine first effort at Ascot in December when failing by just a head behind Dance And Glance before those placings were comprehensively reversed at Sandown shortly after the turn of the year when All In You had a length and a half to spare over that rival.
Greatrex firmly believes the best of All In You will be seen when he gets a more generous pace to aim at, which is usually the case in the 2m Newbury feature, and the son of Triple Threat has been given a nice freshen up at home since that Sandown success.
Greatrex said: He has done well the last twice when the pace probably wasn’t as strong as he would have wanted - he isn’t ground dependent, so conditions will be fine and all looks good.
We have some nice horses that have been running well, so long may it continue.
The Upper Lambourn trainer kindly talked to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about his team heading into the second half of the season.
