If anyone had their horse absolutely spot on for Royal Ascot year it has to be Alan King whose handful of runners performed near miracles.

The Barbury Castle Stables trainer sent out five horses to the meeting and remarkably sent out Coeur De Lion to win the Ascot Stakes Handicap, Scarlet Dragon to land the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap and Who Dares Wins to provide him with a third success of the week when winning the closing Queen Alexandra Stakes.

Just for good measure Tritonic was beaten only half a length in the Golden Gates Handicap and Painless Potter ran a blinder when finishing fifth in the Coventry Stakes.

King has clearly emerged as one of the most talented dual-purpose trainers in the business and as well as some of his regular visitors likely to be show also hold hopes of Gold Cup glory with the class Trueshan should the rains arrive on the Berkshire slopes.

Once again, he is likely to be represent in the two-year-old division by the very likeable Asymmetric who made an impressive winning debut for King at Goodwood last Friday night and hopefully a rewarding week will ensue for the affable handler.

Alan kindly spoke to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about some of his prospects for the five-day highlight of the summer and beyond.
