Verdict

HIGHWAYMAN HARRY attracts strong support but has been costly to follow. He could get it right. TIGER'S CAPTAIN is improving all the while and shouldn't be far off. ARIZONA MAGIC has improved somewhat in blinkers and can get into the reckoning. GREEN MACHINE disappointed when heavily backed over the longer distance but is back to a sprint - respect. Newcomers GREENANDGOLD and COOL GAMBLER were costly purchases and are worth a market check on debut.

HAZY DAZY was an authoritative winner of Leg 1 of the Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara over 1600m and this extended trip will be more to her liking. Verdict

Stellar cast headed by multiple Grade 1 winner JAN VAN GOYEN whose colours were lowered by older rivals last time. He should, however, prove an entirely different proposition back on the Highveld and against his own age group. Stablemates SPLITTHEEIGHTS, winner of Leg 1 of the TAB SA Triple Crown, and ONE EYE ON VEGAS (4th) are closely matched on their Guineas meeting and there shouldn't be much between them again, though the same applies to runner-up GRAND EMPIRE and 3rd-place finisher TRUST - both could have more to offer over the extra 200m.

Verdict

Top-class visitors SEE IT AGAIN and THE REAL PRINCE have a score to settle after a few close encounters in the Western Cape recently. The latter edged their L'Ormarins King's Plate meeting over this trip but the former avenged that narrow defeat in the WSB Cape Town Met over 2000m, and a stiff 1600m could be more to his liking.
