Stuart Williams has had a fine season with his medium-sized team in Diomed Stables in Newmarket and the autumn may still have more to offer to the astute handler.
Quinault has revived his year with three wins in Listed company since August and could be in line for a crack at the Bengough Stakes at Ascot at the weekend if, miraculously, the ground dried out but the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket on October 11 might be the more likely option.
The gifted Pandora’s Gift graced herself with Listed race glory at Chelmsford in May but it is her recent exploits across the Atlantic that has Willliams’s heart beating, as his filly gave him another £47,244 to add to his domestic tally when failing by a neck in the Grade 2 Presque Isle Downs Master Stakes at Presque Isle and she could be in line for a Breeders’ Cup slot if she can avail herself in good style in the Franklin Stakes at Keeneland on October 13.
Williams said: “We have had a good year with the horses we have at our disposal and, hopefully, we can enjoy some further success in the coming months.” Williams is only two short of his 2023 total of 38 winners and has amassed £483,244 domestically.
He kindly spoke to Tony Elves for attheraces.com about his team on Newmarket’s Hamilton Road.
