Henry de Bromhead has emerged from the pack as the closest pursuer of Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott in Ireland and recent seasons have seen him establish himself as a major player on the biggest stages of the sport.
De Bromhead has saddled a total of 25 winners at the Cheltenham Festival in his 20-year career as a trainer. It all started with Sizing Europe’s victory in the Arkle Challenge Trophy in 2010, but it has ramped up in no uncertain terms in recent years.
Indeed, 2021 saw de Bromhead produce one of the greatest individual trainer performances of all time at the meeting by saddling six winners that included the Champion Hurdle, the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the Gold Cup. For good measure, not only did he send out Honeysuckle to win the Champion Hurdle again in 2022, he also saddled another 1-2 in the Gold Cup with A Plus Tard leading home Minella Indo.
Henry has a strong squad of established Grade 1 festival winners like Air Of Entitlement, Bob Olinger, Envoi Allen Hiddenvalley Lake plus plenty of promising youngsters to go to war with in 2025/26. He talked to Kevin Blake of attheraces.com to go through the top team at Knockeen in County Waterford.
