Although ROGER RAREBIT's last two successes came on the back of lengthy breaks, Tom Lacey's nine-year-old won in a convincing manner at Warwick's New Year's Eve fixture and could be tough to overhaul if this doesn't come around too soon for him. A 5lb rise for that success looks a fair assessment. Whatsyourproblem is unexposed at the trip and merits a betting check, while Dunstall Rambler is 11lb above his last winning mark but can also figure if his C&D fall is forgotten.
ROGER RAREBIT bounced back from a spell in the doldrums last time and should be able to follow up off just 1lb higher. He has had his issues but he's entitled to come on for that first run since the spring and he's one of the few in the field who won't mind the forecast rain. The unexposed Whatsyourproblem looks the biggest danger after an improved run over C&D last time. That form has had knocks but he lurks on a dangerous mark based on his hurdle form. Abingworth showed improved form last year when brushing up on his jumping and has now dropped below his last winning mark. If the rain stays away he would also be of interest.

The fact he was raised 3lb for that performance confirms he is on the upgrade and is well worth following. Daytime Dreaming couldn't justify favouritism on his chasing debut, but that support suggests better was expected. He is dangerous to ignore. Dromlac Jury and Flash In The Park complete the shortlist.
Daytime Dreaming is likely to prove popular after a promising chase debut over 2 1/2m here where he was just outstayed late. He was a course winner over hurdles who should come on for that return and his yard's horses usually improve for fences. However he may struggle to reel in MR GREY SKY who has the potential for an easy lead here. He went far too fast on his reappearance but he looks well treated on his victory on his penultimate start and the forecast rain will be in his favour. Benmore was a cosy winner at the end of last year and held his form in defeat next time so is also respected but he will need a stiff test at the trip.

WILSTAR, a half-brother to the the top-class Douvan and Jonbon, will have to go some to live up to that pedigree. However, he is still very low-mileage and there were encouraging signs in his Ayr second. That was his first start after wind surgery and a race of this nature is within range with another step forward. Tread Carefully has shown ability and is feared most. Myrighthandman and Joeybottles also command respect.
TREAD CAREFULLY didn't handle the soft ground last time but could be tough to beat here if conditions aren't too testing. His previous runner up effort took a boost at Listed level and sets the standard in this line up. Bumper winner Wilstar was turned over at odds on last time but he still showed improved form. That was his first run after a wind op and he's entitled to progress again so looks the main danger. Having attracted strong market support on his debut under Rules, point-to-point recruit MOYGANNY PHIL could be the answer. It's safe to assume better was expected from the Olly Murphy-trained six-year-old over C&D and, with that experience to draw upon, he looks worth another chance. Useful on the Flat, Fouroneohfever looked set to be a clear second-best before falling on his hurdles debut at Sandown. He should be wiser and must have every chance in this company. Other notable options include Mr Jukebox and Herbygoesbananas.
FOURONEOHFEVER was well beaten when coming down on his hurdles debut but he paid the price for trying to go with a classy winner. He is a useful staying handicapper on the flat who should have too much class and speed for these rivals if ridden more conservatively. PARISH STAR escapes a penalty for her Newcastle victory last week and connections appear to have found an excellent opportunity for her to strike again, providing she has recovered from those recent exertions. Somebodycomegether scored at Catterick on her penultimate start and has to enter calculations once again. The rest all have something to prove, but Time Was and By The Grace look the pick of them.
Parish Star is likely to be popular if turned out quickly. She had a bit in hand at the finish when winning last time and has returned from an absence and improved horse so has to be respected escaping a penalty. However the unexposed KUPKA VALLIS has caught the eye on a couple of occasions and could be ready to shed her maiden tag. She failed to convince with her stamina for 2 1/2m last time but did travel well and she looks on a generous mark based on her trio of previous runs. She was arguably a touch unlucky on her penultimate start but if held onto for a bit longer she can make amends. Top weight By The Grace was in good form when last seen and it's notable that her top yard persists so she also rates a threat on her reappearance.

PIKE ROAD finished fourth over 3m at Cheltenham before returning to the same venue and weakening into fifth behind subsequent Cleeve hero Ma Shantou. The drop in trip appears to be a positive for Martin Keighley's gelding, who looks capable of taking full advantage. Bitsnbuckles has been thereabouts recently and commands plenty of respect, while Motazzen and handicap debutant Firm But Fair head the remainder.
This could be dominated by those at the bottom of the weights. MOTAZZEN completed a hat trick last year and returned to form when placing off 1lb lower than his current mark last time. That form has been boosted and the forecast rain is in his favour. The consistent Bitsnbuckles looks an obvious danger while Jackpot Cash is also of interest. LA HIGUERA built on a string of fine efforts in defeat when gaining a deserved success at Wetherby and a 3lb rise appears to be more than fair for Toby Lawes' gelding. Moveonbuy bounced back to form when runner-up on that occasion and has to be considered now 1lb better off with the selection. Check The Score returns from a 12-month absence, but remains open to improvement.
Point, bumper and chase winner CHECK THE SCORE can register a first victory in this sphere on his return from a lay off. His last time out victory over fences came when tried over 3m for the first time and he's only gone up 6lb for beating a next time out winner. The consistent Bobalot has proven himself versatile ground wise and looks the obvious danger while La Higuera is open to further progress having got off the mark last time.
