Expert Analysis
Probably a weak Grade 1, but it produced an easy winner in Doctor Steinberg who stayed this trip well despite over-racing throughout.
DOCTOR STEINBERG looked an unlikely one to make up into a leading player for a Cheltenham novice hurdle when beaten at Galway in August, but he has progressed rapidly over hurdles stepping up in trip and this was another career best. He was keen racing just behind the leader and got little peace from those behind, but his hurdling was excellent and was travelling best into the straight before pulling away for a convincing win.
KAZANSKY had won a weak Grade at Limerick last time and stepped up in that here, looking like one that would be better over further.
LOVE ME TENDER was up markedly in trip and stayed it to a point, though his strong travelling style suggests two-and-a-half miles might prove his optimum. He raced through last summer and would likely have preferred a faster surface.
RISKAWAY raced just behind the two leaders and put pressure on the favourite throughout. He was weakening when making a mistake at the last and would prefer a shorter distance.
FRANKIE JOHN was racing on an unsuitable surface for the second time in a row and should do better as the ground dries out.
SANTO SOSPIR was disappointing, given how well he handled this ground on his previous start.
TACKLETOMMYWOOWOO was having his first start in three months and was out of his depth.
YESHIL made the running, but unusually for one from his yard, jumped poorly and was pulled up.
