KOHALA showed greenness at the start and finish of her debut effort over 5f at Doncaster this month so her close (a short-head and a nose) third looks an impressive achievement. If she's benefitted for the experience, she should be up to scoring here. Blue Shoes, placed in her three starts to date, was well beaten at Musselburgh latest but drops in class today and should prove the danger. The newcomer Champagne Katie looks a well-bred sort and could make an impression first time out.
Kohala didn't seem fully clued up on her debut at Doncaster, but she still shaped with plenty of promise and will be hard to beat with normal improvement. The consistent Blue Shoes should be placed again, while Tip Top Gorgeous could also have a role to play.

This step up in trip could pave the way for PIZZETTI to open his account at the fifth time of asking. The gelding showed little in his first three starts over shorter but appreciated the 1m3f trip at Southwell this month when a running-on third on his handicap debut. He looks well treated here and can get his head in front, taking another step up in trip. History Girl disappointed latest at Kempton but has looked capable of better on turf and is another who could benefit for this trip. Cuban Piece and Mojolika are not out of it.
It's hard to ignore the claims of Pizzetti who showed improved form starting out in handicaps and shapes as if this longer trip will be right up his street. Cuban Piece has already proved his stamina and can't be discounted, with handicap debutants I'm A Celebrity and Mina's Boy others to consider.

This should go the way of NEXT EDITION. Winner of a 7f maiden here on his third start, he followed up with a close second in a valuable nursery over a mile at Newcastle. He looks well treated on that effort, should appreciate the longer trip and, although he hasn't been out since August, may not need to resume at his best to score here. Well Sharp looks the one for the forecast, although the Ayr maiden winner has struggled in handicap company since. Labore won at Wolverhampton but needs to improve on a disappointing effort at Sandown this month.
Next Edition won at this course last season and, with his yard going pretty well, looks worth siding with on his return to action.

The last three runnings of this race have gone to Southern raiders and the prize could be heading in a similar direction today. The Godolphin horse, Sarrsar, finished last season with a double but might have too much weight now, while Scottish raider Merchant Of Dubai has something to find but shouldn't be ruled out. Local hopes rest on Arlequin, Mirrored and Jutland but preference is for Mick Channon's HALICARNASSUS. He may not be the force of old but retains all his enthusiasm, is well treated and recent efforts suggest he will appreciate this drop in trip.
Plenty to consider in what is one of the course's biggest races of the season, but Mirrored is still fairly treated after an impressive win on his return and he's taken to follow up at the chief expense of Sarrsar, Pendragon and Breakheart.

It might be worth giving one more chance here to BERTIEWHITTLE, placed in his last five races. He's looking exposed now but this looks his easiest task for some time and he might be capable of breaking his duck at the ninth time of asking. Moral Issue is another who has had his chances but could be the one for the forecast if repeating his recent 7f effort here, while Namwahjobo was a well-beaten fifth at Ayr on his debut a year ago but the form of that race has worked out well and he must be considered.
Bertiewhittle and Moral Issue should have this between them, with the former just preferred.

Plenty in with chances here but it might pay to side with LEITZU, a 1m mile winner at Brighton last year and placed twice over hurdles over the winter. She's entitled to have improved for two runs on the Flat recently and is clearly suited by a test of stamina. Escape Artist has struggled on the all-weather this year but can be given a chance back on turf, but Simple Jim is exceptionally weighted on last year's winning form and could pose a real threat if recapturing that form.
Last year's winner Simple Jim has possibly been campaigned with this race in mind again and is taken to stage a repeat. Bajan Parkes was better than this grade in his prime and can't be ruled out, while Finellas Fortune should also go close if recapturing her best after a break.
