Probably the least auspicious start to any Goodwood meeting, and it may pay to side with the sole newcomer in the race, LITTLE TED. David Evans' colt is out of a half-sister to the very swift Duchess Dora and doesn't appear to have much in opposition here. The Dancing Lord has failed to beat a single horse home in two starts since winning at Folkestone but this does represent a drop in class, while I Dream Of Genie wasn't too far away at Brighton and may find this grade more to her liking.
The Dancing Lord has shown form good enough to win a race like this with some comfort and gets the vote despite 2 lacklustre recent runs. I Dream of Genie and River Nova look the chief dangers.

SOAP WARS was hugely impressive when waltzing to victory at Windsor last week and Hugo Palmer has taken the option of bringing him back out under a penalty, as the handicapper is likely to hit him hard for the future. Stevie Gee got closest to the selection at Windsor and is better off this time, but is hard to see him, and the well-beaten Mymumsaysimthebest and Silver Wind, being able to exact their revenge. Brandywell Boy wasn't too far away at Bath and shouldn't be dismissed lightly.
Soap Wars won very easily from Stevie Gee at Windsor for his new stable last week and is fancied to follow up. Mymumsaysimthebest wasn't seen to best advantage then and should get closer this time, while Diriculous and Qadar aren't badly treated and could also figure.

Set The Trend missed out in a blanket finish at Doncaster last time and has to figure highly in the reckoning, but Saeed bin Suroor's yard has started to hit top stride and RAINFALL could prove a class apart here. The former Mark Johnston inmate won the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and was last seen finishing third in the Group 1 Sun Chariot, so she could use this race as a springboard to bigger things. The Rectifier and Invincible Soul are others to note.
Tropical Paradise has a great record here but the equally-likeable Rainfall has looked more at home over 1m than that one and is preferred. Invincible Soul deserves to have won more races than he has and is worth a go in this grade.

LETHAL FORCE was an unfancied 33-1 chance for his debut at Ascot, but Clive Cox's Dark Angel colt ran well for second and while he won't be anything like that price this time, he looks the best bet in this contest. Pride And Joy was a fair way behind Misty Conquest when second on his debut at Newmarket and needs to improve, while Leenavesta was not too far away at Windsor on his first outing and is likely to come on for that. Marygold is more exposed than the rest, but did run a good race over C&D last time.
Lethal Force sets a good standard and could prove hard to beat up in trip. Maroosh and Minal are likely to improve with a run under their belts, while Great Mystery and Eagle of Rome make some appeal among the newcomers.

MOUNTRATH may have only just got up to score at Leicester last time, but that came over a furlong shorter and with this longer trip expected to suit, he can defy a 6lb penalty. Red Dagger should be fit from a spin over timber but he was well beaten that day and has a bit to find to challenge, while Byrd In Hand has been in solid placed form on the all-weather but has failed to make the first three in five turf starts.
Mountrath hasn't been with Gary Moore long, and, despite his usual headgear being left off here, is fancied to gain another success. French Art is another who'll be suited by the return to 1m and Catchanova should also go well.

DIDDUMS never really got into a threatening position at Brighton last time, but that came over an inadequate 7f and this longer trip could prove ideal, even off a 5lb higher mark. Lombok's hurdling campaign was nothing short of disastrous, but he went close at Kempton when last tried on the level and may be happier minus the obstacles here. Spice Fair returned from an eight-month lay-off to score over 2m here last time but this trip may find him tapped for toe, so MISS BOUNTY gets the vote. Jim Boyle's mare followed up a good Brighton win with a second-place finish at Newbury and has every chance of returning to winning ways.
It may be worth taking a chance on Highly Regal who, despite having to prove himself at the trip, has shown enough over hurdles of late to think he could exploit his lowest mark for some time back on the Flat. Miss Bounty should go well if her stamina lasts out, while Lombok's record over hurdles shouldn't necessarily be held against him.
