Her record at this track might not be impressive, but QUILL PLAY has an ideal draw and should be aided by the return to dirt. Seemingly competitive in every other race, Regal Stoic is due to run well, while the step back up in trip should suit Irguns Star if she is fully wound up after a month-and-a-half off.
Following a fair third in similar company a fortnight ago, KRABO is fancied to be involved in the finish again, as is Freedom's Answer whose best dirt speed is fastest among today's starters. Further progress is likely from Knight Dragon who is having only his third outing since returning from almost eight months on the sidelines.
With an almost one-in-three strike-rate when dropping his horses down one class, the trainer of PERSUASIVE LADY could be on the mark yet again. Solaratee was sent off as favourite to win her last two races, so has obviously been showing plenty in training, while Eishin Illini Now is not without place prospects in this company.
With the highest speed figure at today's distance, not to mention his best dirt speed being fastest among today's starters, this should be a good opportunity for ITS ALL to open his account. Silly's Brother has a chance if taking advantage of his good draw, while it would come as no surprise if Dancer Type managed to earn place money for the first time.
Following his fair second in similar company last month, CRUSADING TIME must have a chance of going one better here, but just one victory from 20 starts tempers enthusiasm, especially as Sully's Wish was supported into favouritism last time out. Chantilly Spice is another to consider, but her record at this trip is cause for a little concern.
A competitive affair with plenty of live contenders but none appeal more than FIRST SPEAR. He only just failed to get up after getting caught wide last time and compensation could be waiting. Court Of Maximus also has an excellent chance, while R. T. Gulch bids to follow up his recent C&D win and can't be discounted. Reds Rollin wasn't far behind the selection last time and has a shout, along with Warned who drops in class.
Few of these have much in the way of recent form, so class-dropper CLASSIC HENRY can take advantage of this less competitive race to gain his first win for some time. His trainer does well when easing his horses in grade and his early speed is a big advantage here. Speed figures also give him a chance while they also point to the chances of Act Glittery, Indian Game and Jaguar Gambler as possible alternatives.
A four length winner last time out, She's Wild is in with a live chance once again, while Pass The Pepper drops in class and could make good use of her early speed. Wretched Excess has finished second on her last two outings and looks capable of having a say but G G'S DOLLY looks the answer. A lightly-raced filly, she is going the right way and also has plenty of early speed, which will serve her well here.
Mt Money won nicely here last time and can figure if reproducing that form but whether he will or not is questionable. Scrubbin Speed was a little below par latest but is capable of much better and should be on the scene. The one to get the vote, though, is WILDWOOD FIREBIRD who has been in consistent form of late and can go one better than when second last time.
