Ex-French imports RESTLESS D'ARTAIX and Original Fly look to be the major players in this opening event. The former was not disgraced when finishing third in a better contest than this on his British debut over C&D last month and may just have too much for the latter, who has his first run today for the Paul Nicholls yard. The well-bred flat winner Asaateel could also be interesting on his hurdling bow.
GALLANT APPROACH did well to win over a much shorter trip over hurdles at Huntingdon last month, as he looks to be an out-and-out staying chaser and has already won over three miles in an Irish point-to-point. Today's race conditions should be right up his street. Bob The Builder improved to get off the mark at Leicester last time and could be the biggest danger, while Star Angler should improve for his chasing debut at Towcester and this more suitable trip.
Craven showed a good attitude when winning his bumper at Wincanton and should not be far away on his hurdling debut. Ex-French import Naja De Billeron has his first start for Martin Pipe and also looks an interesting sort, but a tentative vote goes to the Charlie Egerton-trained VINANDO, who was a three-time winner on the Flat and looks a decent prospect in this sphere.
Soeur Fontenail beat Acertack by a short-head at Plumpton last time and there should be very little between the pair again here with only a 1lb difference in the weights. The vote, however, goes to HIERS DE BROUAGE, who bounced back to form last time when winning at Chepstow, and is still well handicapped despite a 5lb rise.
Ferdy Murphy can continue his good run of form here with SUPREME DEVELOPER. The eight-year-old has been highly tried of late but ran well when upped in trip in a Listed event at Newcastle last time and should appreciate this drop in class. The lightly-raced Eurotrek still has improvement to come and could prove to be a big danger, while Lord Who disappointed on his first start for Philip Hobbs, but is better than that, and is another to consider.
Quite a competitive affair, but OSCAR PARK, who looks Cheltenham bound, is improving all the time and should maintain his unbeaten record. Mr Pointment showed a good attitude when scoring at Market Rasen on his hurdling debut but may be seen to even better effect over further, while Pirate Flagship has improved for every run and should make the frame again here.
Over The Flow and Inherent look best of those with form, especially the former, who met interference when runner-up on her debut at Exeter recently, and both could make the frame again here. The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained newcomer JAMADAST ROMA may be the one to beat. She is a half-sister to Ollie Magern and Petite Margot, the stable have a good record in these events and she may get off the mark at the first time of asking.
