Expert Analysis
Only five runners for this weak Grade 2, and the pace was notably slow, each runner returning a finishing speed percentage north of 110% per Course Track. The form looks weak for the grade, the runner-up and third raced 126 and 124 respectively.
KAZANSKY had been a fortunate winner last time at Cork over six furlongs shorter and proved well-suited by this step up in trip, outpaced briefly in the straight before keeping on well despite his rider dropping his reins after the last.
COUNTY FINAL, like the winner, was the stepping up markedly in trip and the steady pace suited. He travelled as well as any and was a length clear when he got in tight to the last, rallying again up the run-in. His way of going suggests a return to shorter will suit.
YESHIL made the running and was left alone in doing so. He travelled well but was left behind by the first two between final two having had the run of the race.
BARRA RUA was the outsider of the field and didn’t hurdle with much fluency. She was beaten after three out.
THE BIG CLUBMAN was a disappointing favourite though would have preferred a stronger gallop given how well he stayed last time in the Monksfield.
