The Deauville Barriere summer meeting starts this Sunday, live on Sky Sports Racing, and as always, Marseille-based trainer Jerome Reynier has taken 12 boxes at the seaside resort where he hopes that stable star Lazzat can successfully defend his title in the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest.
“The Prix Maurice de Gheest has always been his summer target,” confirms his handler. “It is a good trip for him and sets him up nicely for all the other targets at the end of the season. This year, we are looking at a European campaign, maybe next year we will travel further again.”
Here, as well telling Liz Price news about his other flag-bearer in Facteur Cheval, he kindly talks us through his hopes for the Deauville, which, apart from Lazzat, are centred mainly around the handicap contests.
