RED ROLLS ROYCE may have been one run short when beaten favourite on his comeback at Yavapai at the end of August. The fourteen-time winner should be fully wound up today and jockey Vince Guerra knows her well. She should show her best at likely short odds. Stoli Chaser is an improving three year old who has won her last two races. She ran a quick time in her last and could well be up to the class rise. Rlittle Devil is better than her last race suggests and was progressing with racing until then.
WORLD CLASS DASH has a difficult draw to overcome but such was the promise of his comeback race he may be up to this. He ran a close third against two time winners in his latest and this is a drop in grade. He was on the fringes in better races at Los Alamitos before his long lay-off and may be a bit classier than his rivals. Dashin Cash has run some solid races this summer, particularly in his latest when taking on better types. He has every right to be thereabouts. Diegos Flo Jo comes here in top form after only missing by a head against a similar field last time.
HES SO CHARMING is a perfect one for one in Arizona after shipping in from a tougher circuit in Southern California. He is fresh but that didn't stop him breaking his maiden last time and may take the next step forward against a field consisting mainly of exposed types. Hawkinsons Effort has lost his last two races by close margins at Yavapai. A repeat of either of those puts gets him on the board at very least. El Boxeador won this condition in his latest start but was disqualified. He will rightly take money to gain compensation here.
PUFF MADDIE has been in some much tougher races in Southern California and this is a massive drop in class. She runs first time for a top local barn and is hard to ignore. Backers who believe in a 'winner being a winner' should bear in mind that she has never raced on conventional dirt and is unlikely to represent value with that caveat. Lil Dish won her only start in wire to wire fashion at Canterbury. She recorded a fast time in that six length victory and could be any kind. Topper's Gem didn't fire in stakes race here but ran two fine races for this barn at Emerald Downs. If the selection isn't on her game she could be the beneficiary.
DUKE DELUXE had an amazing Canterbury meeting winning five of six races with the rail horse being runner up in his last pair. He has never won here but seems a better horse now and is well worth a chance to show that improvement over this strip. Pivot Pad was not up to the selection when they met this summer but has a shot at a reversal on a track he runs well on. Expect him to gun and try and hold on. Corporal Tillman and Best Game in Town are sharp shippers who have exacta or trifecta possibilities at very least.
SKIMPY has burned some money in Northern California since she broke her maiden three starts back. She is no good thing in terms of class or figures but like many before her may come to life first time on this lesser circuit. Lo Risquette has looked awful in two starts at Yavapai but hasn't been helped with a couple of tardy starts. She is now ridden by a jockey very capable at the gate and could rebound here. Two too Many has been in tougher races this autumn but she has had chances on this circuit and at this level before.
HOPEFUL VERN has looked a new horse since shipping to Arizona with a two wins from three starts. His only defeat was when shortened up to sprint and he looks a wire-to-wire threat from a good rail draw. Bad Bubba Jones and Wide Ide have claims but my get burned if they try to run with the selection early. Joggins on the other hand will benefit from a speed duel. This closer goes first time for a deadly jockey/trainer combo and he'll be rolling late. Obstruction has the ability to make the frame and could round out the trifecta.
JUSTCRUISE has shown speed and backed out in tougher races in Northern California this autumn but this is a far better spot for the former classy runner. Not only does he get class relief but gets back on a conventional dirt surface and he should be ultra-competitive on his first start here. Potrero Station comes here off a string of near misses at Emerald Downs. He should be rolling late and is a threat for all the money. Shoxy, Bonsall Blaze and Scofield Honour all have ran well here before and are capable of stepping up on their Yavapai efforts.
HIJO DE BUENO was a major disappointment when beaten favourite at Yavapai in his latest. He ran a winning race in his final start here in open company and gets another chance today. Por Que Yo comes out of three infinitely tougher races on the turf where he showed ability. His ability to act on dirt and to cope with this short sprint is possible issue but his trainer has no peers with state bred runners. Irish Snowfall showed a little speed in his latest and may hang around longer today. The jockey booking of Glenn Corbett is a positive sign.
