A typically trappy York sprint to open proceedings with HARRISON GEORGE taken to supplement his success at the Ayr Great Western meeting. That was the consistent colt's first success for over a year and he now seems to have established this trip as his optimum distance and can handle this 5lb rise in the weights. Something was behind the selection at Ayr but has been performing creditably in competitive 7f sprints and will come good sooner or later. Light From Mars may find this a bit sharp and the younger brigade of Splendorinthegrass and Makaamen are the potential improvers.
A very competitive handicap and a number can be given a chance. Appalachian Trail appeals more than most, though, having shaped really well over 8f last time. Harrison George finally got his head in front recently and is likely to go well again, while Dhaular Dhar needs things to go right but has shaped as if in top form of late.

THEOLA is an improving staying filly who scored with something in hand at Pontefract and arrives with no qualms about handling this marathon trip. She has displayed progressive form throughout the current campaign and looks a value option off her lowly perch. Mith Hill is a useful dual purpose performer and has decent prospects on the back of two solid performances last month, notably a comfortable Chester success. Perfect Shot's progressive profile has come to a halt the last twice but he has a decent chance on previous efforts, although caution must be advised. The consistent Danzatrice has each-way claims.
Mark Tompkins is adept at cultivating young stayers and has unearthed another in Theola who proved that stamina is her forte at Pontefract last time. She looks the one to be on, with Mith Hill and Mykingdomofahorse likely to offer most resistance.

She was last seen when a fair fourth to Misheer in the Cherry Hinton, form that reads well here. Coolminx and Dorback, separated by a head over five furlongs latest, look the biggest dangers.
An open listed event. Capercaillie hasn't been seen since a slightly disappointing run in the Cherry Hinton, but her absence implies all can't have been right that day and she's taken to bounce back. Never The Waiter won his maiden easily recently and looks well worth his place at this level, while Layla's Hero won't be far away if reproducing his Haydock form.

Plenty of in-form sprinters to contend with in a massively competitive contest with the vote awarded to CAPTAIN DUNNE. Kevin Ryan could well hold the key to this valuable contest. LAY CLAIM made an excellent debut for Sir Michael Stoute at Newbury when outpointed in the final stride by Critical Moment over this trip. The American-bred colt can only benefit from the experience and is hard to oppose. Karaka Jack and Count Bertoni have shown bits and pieces of form but nothing to indicate that they can overcome the selection and the main threat may emerge from newcomers, notably the expensive Danehill Dancer colt, Lost In The Moment. Taste The Victory is another American-bred newcomer of interest.
This may be one-way traffic, with Lay Claim hard to oppose after going close on his debut in a decent-looking Newbury maiden. Newcomer Lost In The Moment could be the one for the forecast ahead of Karaka Jack.

SAM SHARP seems to have been crying out to be returned to a mile and a quarter after two recent efforts over further. On both occasions he arrived travelling easily before failing to get home and is given another chance here with trip and ground ideal. However, dangers abound and Citizenship is one that appeals as he too is dropped back in distance. He remains fairly weighted and should be suited by this track. Veroon and Some Sunny Day have both developed into solid handicappers in recent outings and make the shortlist in an open affair.
A very tricky handicap, but Aldaado is still relatively unexposed and promises to be well suited by this sort of trip. He gets the nod over Citizenship and Veroon, both of whom arrive here in really good form.

Many of these have been in and out this term but an exception is LADY LUACHMHAR. Richard Fahey's filly has only had the four runs but has progressed with each outing and was a solid third in a Goodwood handicap when last seen on the opening day of August. She is worth chancing on this return and may be well treated. Dazzling Light has only the one win to her name but she continues to give a sound account and is the sort likely to go well here off a decent mark. Shaloo Diamond and Zaaqya are not ruled out.
The progressive Lady Luachmhar is unexposed at this sort of trip and gets the nod ahead of Dazzling Light and Shaloo Diamond in a race where there are any number of other possibilities.
