ROSE GARNET steps up in distance this afternoon as she bids to gain compensation for her head second over the minimum trip at Wolverhampton last month. It is over 6f that she has recorded her only previous victory, so from a low draw and off an unchanged mark, another bold bid could be on the cards. Welsh Inlet went down by under a length over C&D latest and heads the list of possible dangers from the dropped-in-trip Catalinas Diamond.

Rose Garnet arguably should have won at Wolverhampton last time and can make amends here up against mostly out-of-form rivals. Welsh Inlet is hard to win with nowadays but she at least arrives in good form after her close third over C&D last week, and rates as the biggest threat.

Hinton Admiral has edged up 2lb for his neck second to Volito over C&D last time and should be thereabouts if his wide draw can be overcome. With the benefit of a lower draw, however, preference is instead for C&D winner DIAMOND VINE, who hinted a return to winning ways was imminent when fourth over this distance at Kempton last time. Waterloo Dock should give it his best shot from the front while Metropolitan Chief can be expected to be finishing to best effect late on.

Trust The Wind doesn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary, nevertheless, she has at least progressed between runs and could improve for this extra furlong. Eve Johnson Houghton's newcomer Sparkling Ice is also worth a market check, but preferred ahead of both is 93-rated Clive Brittain representative HALLJOY, who sets a clear form standard on her 7f Group 3 third at Goodwood last term. She returns from a 161-day break but may not need to be anywhere near her best to land this weak heat.

Watch out for: Trust The Wind (6)

Halljoy acquitted herself pretty well on the whole last year having been set some stiff tasks, and she really ought to get off the mark switched to polytrack on return to maiden company. ROWAN RIDGE caught the eye on his penultimate outing, finishing sixth under an inexperienced apprentice on his return from a long break. He built on that effort with a narrow defeat behind Fearless Lad over 1m3f at Kempton last time, but, now returned to this longer trip, compensation may well be in the offing. Cabuchon remains 4lb higher than for his C&D win last month but has place claims along with penalised 1m2f course winner Standing Strong and recent hurdles winner Akdam, for whom a Flat mark of 67 looks ripe for exploitation if the trip doesn't prove too sharp.

Watch out for: Akdam (10)

Quite a competitive affair in which it is worth taking a chance on Zaeem, who has shaped better than the bare result on his last couple of starts and may be ready to strike. Innoko also caught the eye last time and is a big danger, whilst Cabuchon will be suited by the return to this trip and can also go well.

Even Stevens sprang a surprise victory at Wolverhampton last time and it will be interesting to see if things pan out so favourably again here, as Addictive Dream and Ballista have more than enough speed to take him out of his comfort zone if they so wish. Taajub ended a long losing run when scoring in a lower grade over C&D last weekend and his stablemate Picansort is no forlorn hope on the pick of his best Polytrack form. The one to beat however, remains SILKEN EXPRESS, who was a half-length second behind Even Stevens last time but may find his style of running more suited to this sharper track. He also has a 2lb weight swing with the Scott Dixon-trained rival in his favour.

A warm sprint handicap that can go to Picansort who would have won with a clear run here last time and has clearly dropped to a good mark. Even Stevens had plenty of these behind when scoring at Wolverhampton recently and is feared again, along with a couple who he beat on that occasion, Addictive Dream and Silken Express.

It will be interesting to see what the market makes of Paul Nicholls' 133-rated hurdler Ranjaan, who is having his first run on the Flat since this three-year-old days in France and chased home My Tent Or Yours in a "jumpers' bumper" at Kempton recently. Communicator (second) and Ted Spread (third) were narrowly beaten in a C&D conditions race in January and bring solid sharp-track form to the table, while Be Perfect would be dangerous if allowed a soft lead. Preferred above all, however, is unexposed Seamus Durack inmate LITIGANT. The selection impressed on his UK debut when placed at Kempton in December and was having just his fifth career outing when winning eased down over 1m6f at Wolverhampton last time. This stiffer test could unlock further improvement from the former Andre Fabre inmate.
