This should go the way of the progressive KIE, winner of two of his four starts over hurdles and a close third in a Grade 2 race at Doncaster this month. With far less on his plate now, he should take all the beating. Ranjaan only got as far as the second flight in that Doncaster race but the French import is well thought of by connections and could get a lot closer today. The hurdling newcomer Lemon Drop Red, a decent sort on the Flat, and Leicester scorer Malanos can fight out the minor honours.
Three-time Flat winner Lemon Drop Red looks sure to be involved if taking well to hurdling for his capable new yard, but Ranjaan sets a decent standard on his debut second and is taken to make amends for his recent Doncaster fall.

High-class hurdler, PEDDLERS CROSS, twice a Grade 1 winner and second in last season's Champion Hurdle, has made an exciting switch to the bigger obstacles, landing both of his starts to date in comfortable style. This is his toughest task to date but, with further improvement on the cards, he should take all the beating here. Sprinter Sacre knows his way to the winner's enclosure and was impressive when scoring at Doncaster on his chasing bow at Doncaster but looks to have plenty to find with the selection. The experienced Harry Hunt has won twice over timber but may struggle here.
Just the 3 line up, but by no means short on intrigue with Peddlers Cross and Sprinter Sacre locking horns. Both are likely to take high rank in the novice pecking order, with Peddlers Cross marginally preferred this day.

The prolific WHOOPS A DAISY, winner of four of her six starts over timber, is chasing a hat-trick now but is up 5lb following a C&D success last month. Those two wins, however, came in Listed events and, dropped in class and possibly still open to improvement, she gets the vote here. Newbury winner Kentford Grey Lady has plenty of weight but turns out for an in-form partnership and must be considered while recent Wincanton winner Violin Davis is in top form at present but could have too much weight now.
The progressive Kentford Grey Lady hasn't really shaped as if in need of 3m, but she's been allotted a very fair mark so is worth chancing. Whoops A Daisy can uphold C&D form with Cloudy Spirit and Violin Davis and rates the chief threat.

Although he hasn't run since April, FINIAN'S RAINBOW should take all the beating here. Winner of four over his five starts over fences, including the Grade 1 Maghull Chase at Aintree last time out, his only defeat coming when runner-up to the talented Captain Chris in this year's Arkle. Wishfull Thinking was a talented novice chaser, scoring in this grade at Aintree in April, but he is yet to produce that level of form in two recent runs against more experienced horses. Oiseau De Nuit is a talented chaser but looks up against it in this company.
Finian's Rainbow has the potential to reach the summit of the 2m division over fences and is expected to take another step in the right direction on his reappearance. The bold-jumping Wishfull Thinking has been disappointing this term, but will give him plenty to think about if back on song.

Fortification won this last year and scored at Exeter last month but he carries plenty of weight here and looks to have plenty on his plate. Promising Anshan, third in a Grade 3 at Ascot two starts ago, fell two out at Cheltenham latest in the same grade but looked held at the time and may be in the grip of the handicapper now. Therefore, it's worth taking a chance on the progressive CONNAK, an impressive winner of a novice chase at Exeter latest. He has performed well against older horses and, with further improvement expected, can land this.
Quite a number to consider but 2009 winner Fortification has made a fine return to action and could deliver the goods again. Old rival Inside Dealer can chase him home once more, while Connak has quickly paid his way for a new trainer and could have more to offer now handicapping.

In a wide-open contest, it might pay to side with LIFESTYLE, right there at Folkestone before losing her pilot three out. That was on her chasing debut, however, and she scored twice before that over timber off the same handicap mark. Dineur scored nicely at Wincanton this month but may struggle to follow up with another 7lb to carry while Art Professor was a game winner at Cheltenham in January but hasn't run since and is 9lb worse off.
