GOTTANY O'S put an inexplicably poor run behind him when pulling up at Wetherby with a smashing effort at Newbury, always travelling with zest before pulling clear of subsequent winner Lyvius to score with real authority. Very useful on the Flat, he should be too good for these rivals if repeating that strong level of form. Guess Again looks a surefire winner of a northern hurdle and Richard Johnson is obviously an eye-catching booking. He's the danger to the McCain charge, whilst Overpriced looks the only other realistic contender.
Gottany O's was a completely different proposition at Newbury last time and this looks a good opportunity to follow up. Guess Again looks to be the main threat, with Overpriced taken to complete the placings.

The anticipated deluge of Tim Vaughan winners has yet to materialise after a fallow period but the stable is gradually inching back into form and THELOBSTERCATCHER did not do too badly last weekend when finishing runner-up to the impressive Mr Hudson at Newton Abbot. The bare form should suffice here but he does look a really hard ride and is certainly not one to be taking a short price about. Captain Nash had some useful Irish form back in 2008/9 and it would be interesting should market support come his way. Ruff Diamond is next best.
Thelobstercatcher is hardly one for the mortgage given his patchy profile, but he will be very hard to beat if repeating his latest second. Ruff Diamond and Captain Nash are closely matched for minor honours.

With the majority of the sextet struggling for form it's advisable to focus on the recent winners with ZEFOOHA narrowly preferred. Tim Walford's mare has a C&D success to her name and produced a career best last time at Doncaster when always controlling a handicap hurdle from two out. The 10lb she receives from Jackson Cage can prove decisive. The latter is no McCain superstar but he's a solid and consistent performer who seems sure to run his race once again. Bandanaman has disappointed on both starts this year but enters the equation if rediscovering his previous hurdling form.
Zefooha seems best under these conditions and gets the nod over Jackson Cage, who has done his winning on more testing ground. The others all have questions to answer, although it would be no shock if Majestic Mayhem returned to form at a track he excels at.

RIVAL D'ESTRUVAL has to concede plenty of weight to all rivals and it's taken a while for him to recapture his useful form of last autumn. It was a decent Newcastle novice hurdle he contested last time won by Dark Glacier, to whom he was conceding 4lb. There were some useful sorts behind and this does look a more straightforward assignment. Miracle House could emerge as a danger as he has some more than respectable Irish hurdling form and now has his first run for Tim Vaughan after a break of over six months. Realmont looks next best but needs to improve.
Rival d'Estruval hasn't been the most consistent this season but is by far the likeliest winner here. Miracle House looks the one for the forecast.

This looks a trappy contest and whilst it's usually inadvisable to row in with maidens in handicap chases, SIR TAMBURLANE could be an exception. He produced some fair hurdling form before being sent over the larger obstacles after just six runs and delivered his best fencing effort last time behind Rich Lord at Carlisle. He can go well off an unchanged mark. Richard Johnson is an interesting booking for Monsieur Jordan and the Tim Easterby inmate will very much appreciate the return to this quicker ground. Expect a good effort, with Outlaw Tom and La Pantera Rosa next best.
Heez A Steel ran a more promising race at Ayr last time and is worth chancing off his reduced mark now. Sir Tamburlane and Outlaw Tom may prove best of the rest.

Tipsy Indian would go close at his best but he's not the most reliable conveyance and STRATHAIRD is preferred in account of his consistent profile and recent winning form when outpointing Ice Image in a modest Sedgefield contest. He gets on well with Adam Nicol and can defy a 4lb rise for that latest success. Saddle Pack delivered a much-improved effort behind Degas Art last weekend and will be on the premises if translating that form to this quicker ground. Old Panthers Run also warrants a mention on two better efforts of late.
Tipsy Indian isn't the best jumper but he is a capable performer at this level and he's the pick for an in-form stable. He can get the better of Saddle Pack and Strathaird.

The market should prove instructive here and GREEN FLAG is only a token choice. The gelding scored at an Irish point-to-point on New Year's Day and represents a yard enjoying a splendid season. Watson showed nothing first time up for the McCain team and it will be interesting to see if the money arrives for him, whilst Thorlak looks most interesting of the newcomers. However, Red Danger Angel showed much better form last time and should be in the shake-up on that evidence. He looks the prime threat to the selection.
The standard set by Red Danger Angel is a modest one, and this looks set to go to a newcomer. The one who ticks most boxes is the well-bred Thorlak, although Kate Walton's record in such events means that Oscar O'Scar needs respect, as does point winner Green Flag.
