French import CAUSE OF CAUSES fell at the last on his Irish debut last month but showed no ill-effects when posting an excellent second in a 20-runner maiden just over a fortnight ago and any improvement on that effort will make Gordon Elliott's charge very hard to beat. Sarabad, another French recruit, is the obvious threat having twice been sent off favourite since joining Willie Mullins, but he hasn't yet lived up to expectations. Wexford sixth Suspect Device could prove best of the rest.
Sarabad will be a live contender if reproducing form akin to that what he achieved in his native France, but as things stand this looks a clear-cut opportunity for Cause of Causes to go one better than he did at Gowran where he chased home a smart prospect in Maggie Neary. The Drunken Dr is the pick of the remainder.

DIRAR ran well when seventh in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham last week and that effort was all the more creditable given the fact he met trouble in running. He likes a sound surface and looks to have been found an ideal opportunity to regain the winning thread. Twinlight won a Grade 3 juvenile hurdle last April but was last seen falling on his chasing debut at Thurles in November and might be one to watch this time. Hidden Future is up in class, whereas Gimli's Rock has his sights lowered after struggling in decent company so far this season.
Twinlight hasn't been seen out since falling 3 out on his reappeareance in November but, assuming all is well, he should prove too strong for Dirar and Gimli's Rock.

BUDWISER shaped quite well in fifth on his second start following a long layoff at Fairyhouse last month and having finished second in a fast-ground Worcester bumper back in June 2009, Paul Flynn's charge could improve again on today's going. Perth winner The Ice Factor is worth a look in the betting on his first outing for Mervyn Torrens, while blinkers could help Millenarys Lady, who has been running well in defeat lately, without exactly looking like a winner-in-waiting.
In The Haven is hardly one to trust implicitly given his rather patchy record, but a reproduction of his penultimate effort may well suffice in a race that probably won't take a great deal of winning. Nivek's Dream is of interest back over hurdles at a track where he has excelled in the past, while Derrinlanna and Point The Toes are others worth considering.

TALAB returned from a spell in the doldrums when staying on for third over 2m5f at Leopardstown earlier in the month and he remains potentially well handicapped, despite a 2lb rise for that effort. The step up in distance will help Dessie Hughes' 3m maiden hurdle scorer, while the fitting of blinkers for the first time could also help his cause. Askmeroe let down favourite-backers at Thurles in January but he comes back fresh after a break and Ruby Walsh keeps the ride. Inoma James and Bally Wall complete the shortlist.
Talab is hitherto untried over this trip but if he does see it out he will have every chance, upped just 2 lb for a solid effort last time. Fairwood Massini and Bally Wall could emerge as the other main protagonists.

CASSON regained his confidence between the flags when last sighted and should go very close now back in a hunters' chase for the first time since December last year. Ground conditions also look back in his favour but there are many in with chances and Harps Counsel wouldn't be winning out of turn, while the consistent Hily Distinguished is another for the shortlist and should make the frame once again.
