The first juvenile event of the year and it sees the introduction of Jim Bolger's Dawn Approach, who represents the first crop of 2008 Derby hero New Approach. A considerable market move for him should not be taken lightly, likewise the Aidan O'Brien-trained Forester, who made 260,000 euros at the sales. Preference over both, however, is for the tongue-tied DYLANBARU. Tommy Stack started last season in blistering form and looks to be doing the same again having saddled three winners from just seven runners at Dundalk since the turn of the year.
The first 2-y-o maiden of the season and, as always, the market will provide plenty of clues. Forester is sure to attract plenty of support but Aidan O'Brien hasn't won this race since 2004 so a tentative vote goes to Dawn Approach who is likely to know his job. Dylanbaru and Dorothy Parker are others with obvious claims.

Plenty holds claims, with Ahimsa, Redoubtable and Rigoletta all boasting official ratings in the 80s. One that appears to have the potential to progress past them all, however, is POSSIBLE. She wasn't disgraced behind the hugely exciting Nephrite on her debut over this C&D last September but turned in an improved effort to take fourth at Naas the following month. Charles O'Brien's filly is entitled to have progressed again over the winter and a high draw could aid her chance this afternoon.
A big-field maiden that looks a really difficult betting heat, though with the majority of those with experience looking vulnerable to newcomers, a chance is taken on Tommy Stack's well-bred runner Atacx. Ahimsa and Steely Grace make each-way appeal.

JEANNIE GALLOWAY gives the impression that she is a mare open to plenty of improvement and, having gone very close in valuable handicaps towards the back end of last season, which included success on similar ground at Hamilton when last sighted in September, the daughter of Bahamian Bounty makes plenty of appeal off just a 5lb higher mark today. Croisultan represents the potent Dermot Weld/Pat Smullen combination and warrants close consideration at the top of the weights but Six Of Hearts is feared most if back to something like the form that saw him score off a 1lb lower mark here in June 2011. Maarek completes the shortlist.
A trappy handicap in which it is possible to make a case for just about everything. Croisultan is very interesting on his first start for Dermot Weld but preference is for Maarek who made great strides last year. British raider Jeannie Galloway and Moutain Coral, who has been running well at Dundalk, are others with strong claims.

TWIRL made a huge impression when running away with a 7f fillies' maiden at Leopardstown in November and although the form could have worked out a little better, she was simply a class apart and very much a filly to look forward to this season. Already prominent in the ante-post Classic markets, Aidan O'Brien's daughter of Galileo seems sure to appreciate the move up to 1m and it will take a good one to give her weight and a beating. Anam Allta could be just that having signed off last term with a six-length win in Listed company, while Moyglare fifth Princess Sinead is another from the Classic generation with a bright future. Kissable could go well at more rewarding odds.
3-y-os have won 6 of the last 10 runnings of this Group 3 and with that in mind it is very tempting to side with the exciting Twirl. However, she faces a formidable opponent in the shape of Anam Allta who is likely to make a mark at a higher level herself. Princess Sinead may prove best of the rest.
A winner at 5f on the all-weather. Finished 4 1/2l behind Nephrite when fourth of 7 at 25-1 on her latest outing in the Group 3 JRA Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown over 7f (yielding) in October last year.

Swerve looked a filly going places when she confirmed the promise shown on debut to score with consummate ease at Listowel two starts ago and, while looking slightly out of her depth in Listed company here in October last year, she can't be ruled out now dropped in trip for her reappearance. Slight preference, however, is for ISHVANA. Aidan O'Brien's daughter of Holy Roman Emperor was mixing it with the big boys in Pattern races as a juvenile last term and her form behind stablemate Nephrite and Born To Sea reads particularly well. She makes her handicap bow off what looks a lenient mark today but keep a close eye on Coolnagree and Patrimonium.
Swerve is worth another chance to confirm the really good impression made on debut and is chosen to score at the main expense of Coolnagree. Patrimonium is the token choice to finish third.

It could pay to side with SHARESTAN in what looks a fiercely competitive handicap. John Oxx's charge made an immediate impression when winning his maiden first time out over this C&D last June and there was no disgrace in finishing third behind subsequent Group 3 winner Flowers Of Spring and Grade 2 winning hurdler Steps To Freedom over two furlongs further at Fairyhouse last time. Font Of Wisdom finished fourth behind the selection in that race at Fairyhouse and went on to bolt up at Galway subsequently. He ought to mount a bold bid entering handicap company for the first time while Take It To The Max, Prince Of Fire and If Per Chance make up the shortlist.
A typically competitive renewal of this premier handicap is possibly best left to Font of Wisdom who looks to have been alloted a lenient mark for his handicap debut. Sikara and Ansaab are progressive sorts who need to be afforded the utmost respect, whilst the Richard Fahey-trained pair, Take It To The Max and Arabian Spirit, may fare best of the older brigade.

VIOLET LASHES confirmed the promise shown on debut when runner-up behind a well supported Aidan O'Brien newcomer at Navan in October and she is fancied to make it third time lucky today. Speaking Of Which and Silk Kimono represent the yard that won this race 12 months ago and the former, in particular, makes plenty of appeal with stable jockey Pat Smullen on top. The offspring of Invincible Spirit is related to a number of winners and three Group 1 entries suggests that he has been showing plenty at home. Waving is another of interest representing John Oxx, while Where's Danny shaped as though stepping up in distance would suit when third on his racecourse bow over 6f here in August.
There are plenty of interesting newcomers here so the market should be closely monitored but the one with the best form in the book is Violet Lashes who has shown she is well up to winning a maiden. Amira's Prince achieved more in his sole start last year than Unanimous did in his, whilst Speaking of Which and Waving are 2 of the more interesting debutants.
