A competitive looking opener here and the slight preference is with THE RECTIFIER. The three-year-old finished second last time out at Newbury and is definitely moving in the right direction. He shouldn't have to find too much more to go one better today. Soho Theatre was narrowly beaten at Lingfield on the all-weather on his seasonal reappearance and keeps the cheekpieces on which he wore that day. The booking of Frankie Dettori suggests connections expect a good run. Rolling Hills turns out for the first time in 176-days and will be looking to go one better than his second on that outing. He drops in trip here and warrants respect.
The Rectifier improved with each start last year and should get off the mark here if picking up where he left off. Hill Tribe, Soho Theatre, Krymian and Joe Packet are four of a number of others who seem likely to be winning races before too long.

Style Award returns to turf for the first time since last October and will be looking for a first win since last May. The ground and distance shouldn't be of hinderance and she is rated 6lb lower than when she last won. A slight preference, however, is for SADDLERS BEND who won over this distance on the all-weather at Wolverhampton back in February before following up over 1m 1f at the same venue. She didn't deliver on turf last season but may be better for the experience. Rough Rock was not disgraced when returning to action at Yarmouth recently and will appreciate the better ground today so he is worth a second look.
Whotsit can return to winning ways in this apprentice handicap at the expense of Who's Winning and Style Award.

BLUE NEPTUNE should have enough to return to winning ways this afternoon. He finished a disappointing sixth on his last outing but was held up and then hampered by the eventual runner-up. He scored a second career success at Wolverhampton last month and showed a good attitude holding off his rivals that day. Tom Folan has failed to score since last July, on softer ground at Haydock, but had previously shown some potential on quicker ground earlier in her debut season. She didn't shine on the all-weather but could be worth another look today. Anjomarba is at her ideal distance here and should put in a good effort.
The money for Tom Folan last time spoke volumes and her supporters could be set to gain compensation here. Anjomarba is her biggest danger.

Love You Louis comes into this in good heart and should give another good account whilst Misaro is on a hat-trick following all-weather wins at Lingfield and Kempton and he has to be on the shortlist. MAGICAL SPEEDFIT shaped encouragingly on his reappearance at Windsor last week and is on a decent mark so he gets a tentative verdict in an open contest.
Love You Louis was rather unfortunate when making a bold bid to follow up his recent C&D win at Windsor last week and is worth persevering with to make amends. Misaro and Magical Speedfit could offer the most resistance.

Oscar Close won well enough on his flat debut earlier this month to suggest he can make his presence felt off a handicap mark of 70 and he is respected along with Sumani, who finished runner-up at Lingfield on his reappearance last month. However, the verdict goes to WIGHTGOLD who improved for the step up to 2m1f on his final outing last term and could prove ahead of the assessor off a mark of just 50.
Benozzo Gozzoli was slightly disappointing on his final start in 2009 in the light of his all the way win at Nottingham in October and is worth another chance to confirm that good impression. Sumani showed unexpected stamina reserves last time and represents a big threat if proving as good over this extra 2f.

Mark Johnston has booked Frankie Dettori for SUBMARINER's belated racecourse debut and the son of Singspiel could be primed to make a winning debut today. Henry Cecil's newcomer, All We Know, commands respect on his debut but the application of blinkers sets alarm bells ringing. Widezain is open to improvement and could be suited by this trip so he can make his presence felt.
Widezain sets a fair standard judged on his efforts in 2 maidens 6 months apart, but the well-bred All We Know won't have to be a worldbeater to take this on debut. Submariner is the only other runner to make any appeal.

SHELFAH made a winning handicap debut over 1m3f at Kempton earlier this month and, whilst an 8lb rise for that does not look particularly lenient, there could be more to come from her. Buffett was a shade disappointing on his handicap debut over a mile at Kempton when last seen but it is reasonable to expect much better from him now. Bonded, Berling and Secretive all merit consideration aswell.
Shelfah will doubtless be popular having shown improved form to make a winning return a fortnight ago. He faces 2 possible improvers in the shape of Dubai Bounty and Buffett, though, with the last named taken to make a winning start in handicaps.
