BALLASALLA has struck the crossbar in both starts over fences thus far and the application of first-time cheekpieces could help him find the back of the net in this contest. Stage Summit found only one too good on his first start post wind surgery at Fontwell and Ben Pauling's charge should remain competitive racing off an unchanged mark of 116, while Pique Rock also merits consideration on what is only his second start over fences. It is worth noting that Richard Johnson is two from two aboard the mare.
BALLASALLA has taken well to chasing and looks capable of going one better back up in trip. Multiple point winner Pique Rock is expected to leave her chasing debut form well behind, with the in-form Wishfull Dreaming also considered.

STORM GODDESS built on her Ludlow third when giving red-hot favourite Mega Yeats a real run for her money at Wetherby and the Charlie Longsdon-trained mare ought to land the spoils in this event. Liz's Dream is entitled to have learnt plenty from her first outing over hurdles at Huntingdon, when finishing third, and she could prove to be the biggest danger, ahead of the Philip Hobbs/Richard Johnson representative Ninth Wave.
STORM GODDESS made a useful prospect work hard at Wetherby on Boxing Day and this is an obvious chance for her to go one better. Liz's Dream and Ninth Wave can fight it out for second.

Giving Glances possibly wasn't in love with the soft ground when pulling up at Aintree and she impressed on a similar surface to this at Hereford the time before, while Via Delle Volte warrants plenty of respect as she bids to follow up her C&D victory last month. However, the vote goes to FABIANSKI, a shrewd 2,000-pound purchase who hasn't put a foot wrong in both starts over hurdles thus far.
Testing ground may have proved GIVING GLANCES' undoing when a very disappointing favourite in an Aintree listed event last time and she's worth another chance back on a sounder surface. Fabianski has been a ready winner of both hurdle starts and may provide the main threat. Tom Lacey's Via Delle Volte and Lady Cylla, who were first and third on C&D hurdle bow last month, are also respected.
