ROMEO MONTAGUE rattled the crossbar over C&D back in June and although he's now 15lb higher in the weights, he's progressed in the meantime, advertising his well-being with a creditable second in a race not run to suit at Epsom latest. The lightly-raced Direct Answer and Sea Of Galilee are both handicapped to win races while a big run from joint top-weight Red Jade would not surprise if the ground is riding on the soft side of good.
The booking of Jamie Spencer for David Lanigan's Flying Power catches the eye, and the gelding can take the step up in grade in his stride. Hot Spice is respected with the race likely to be run to suit, while there should be more to come from Sea of Galilee now he tackles 1½m for the first time.

Marine Commando hasn't been hit hard for his Haydock success last month and, along with the consistent Racy, who reopposes the first-named on 3lb better terms, is expected to mount a bold bid. However, there are some dangerously handicapped rivals lurking at the bottom of the weights, with BARNEY MCGREW appealing most on the back of his recent York third. Judge 'n Jury and Swilly Ferry also merit inclusion on the shortlist.
Fiendishly competitive and the likes of Barney McGrew, Hazelrigg, Marine Commando and Racy all make some appeal. Ginger Ted has looked the type to win one of these all year, though, and a strongly-run race on this ground should be right up his street.

Middle Park seventh West Leake Diman warrants respect but it will be interesting to see if he can shrug off the attention of Gusto, who showed his rivals a clean pair of heels when landing a novices' event at Kempton. It might be worth siding with the progressive BALLESTEROS, who has saved his best form for Haydock but promises to be suited by this galloping track and will relish a strong pace. Rockingham second Miss Lahar is feared most.
Accession looks ready for this step up in class and could prove the answer in a decent race of its type. Parc de Launay caught the eye at York last time and could still have more to give, while Miss Lahar comes here on the back of a couple of very solid efforts in defeat and can pick up further place money.
