This has been won by some good horses over the years and HARRY THE VIKING is taken to emerge on top today having found only stable companion Oscargo too good in a C&D contest on his NH debut back in March. Paul Nicholls' point-to-point winner is more of a chaser in the making but can pay his way in this code for the time being. Fellow point scorers Wheres Wal and Flying Vic are respected but the selection's hurdling experience could prove the difference.
Successful pointer Harry The Viking was unlucky over C&D in March and can make amends on his return. As in division one, Paul Nicholls has a really strong contender and although DUALLA LORD has no previous experience under NH rules, he has a string of point-to-point wins to his name and looks sure to make his mark at this level before long. Rev It Up has also shown plenty of potential between the flags, while Dovecote Wood and Makethe Mostofnow are others to consider closely.
Prolific winning pointer Dualla Lord looks another excellent recruit for the Nicholls team and will be a tough nut to crack on his hurdling bow. Fellow point winners Makethe Mostofnow and Rev It Up are likely to offer the most resistance.

On what could be a very good day for Paul Nicholls, Join Together is certainly on the shortlist as he showed great promise in his novice hurdle campaign last term, including a 20-length win here in February. However, the Philip Hobbs-trained DUKE OF LUCCA edges the vote having finished fourth in a red-hot handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last December. He's always looked a chaser in the making and could go far if taking to the larger obstacles. Teaforthree is another fascinating newcomer to fences.
Our Island is the choice to come out best of a trio who met in the Spa Hurdle at Cheltenham in March. Join Together ran poorly there, but his earlier efforts read very well, while Gurtacrue has plenty to find on hurdles form but looks every inch a staying chaser.

WESTER ROSS bounced back from a heavy last-fence fall on his chasing debut at Bangor when second at Ludlow earlier this month and his confidence should be restored. Attractively treated in this code compared to his best hurdles form, the Evan Williams inmate is fancied to defy the burden of joint top-weight. It looks significant that Paul Nicholls sends That'lldoboy down the handicap path on his seasonal/chasing bow, while the same can be said for Moscow Chancer.
Difficult to rule anything out with confidence in a competitive event, but Present To You shaped quite well on his recent return for new connections and is selected ahead of Ban Uisce and Moscow Chancer.

Impressive bumper winner Fingal Bay has a lofty reputation and is bound to prove popular on his introduction to hurdling but preference is for TROP FORT, who won twice in France before joining David Pipe. He fell when giving Brampour a race on his jumps bow at Taunton before making little impression in the Triumph Hurdle, but he is expected to be fully tuned up for today and might be worth chancing. Current Event and eye-catching Flat recruit Charm School are others of note.
Paul Nicholls took this last year with the very smart Silviniaco Conti, and his Current Event is the form pick up in trip, but Fingal Bay looks a very exciting novice hurdler for this season and is just preferred. The well-regarded Trop Fort is another of interest.

REBEL REBELLION really got his act together in novice hurdles earlier this year following a breathing operation and he looks on a good mark for his first run in a handicap. His stablemate Robinson Collonges is potentially well treated back over the smaller obstacles but a bigger threat may be posed by Arthurian Legend, a novice hurdle winner here when last seen in April. Cheltenham Festival third Tullamore Dew and the experienced Sir Harry Ormesher are not easily discounted.
Any number could take this good handicap, but course form always counts for plenty at this venue, which tips the balance in favour of Arthurian Legend. Darna and Rebel Rebellion are a couple of promising sorts who surely have more to offer.

Woolcombe Folly and Tataniano give champion trainer Paul Nicholls an exceptionally strong hand here but, in receipt of lumps of weight, the vote goes to CADOUDALAS. He made significant improvement last winter, winning three times on the bounce, and although bumped up in the ratings, there could be more to come from Richard Lee's charge this term. Gilbarry and Oh Crick won't be going down without a fight, either.

The penalised Jacko's Boy did it in good style in a three-runner novices' handicap at Plumpton recently but he's not been the most straightforward in the past (has had breathing problems) and might be worth taking on with DON'T TELL NINA. He has shown glimmers of ability over fences and looks to have been given a chance by the handicapper. Kilvergan Boy remains in good heart but his recent form isn't bombproof.
Don't Tell Nina starts out for his new stable in a very weak race and he is taken to overcome the steadier of top weight. Bounds And Leaps and Some Secret could also take a hand.
