An interesting clash with Messrs Henderson and Hobbs both doubly represented and it's the latter trainer's apparent first-string, TALKONTHESTREET, who makes most appeal. A dual winner over hurdles last spring, he looks to be improving with experience as a chaser and the drying weather is expected to aid his cause. Barry Geraghty opts to partner Otto The Great, but French import Private Equity is unexposed for current connections and could be a major player if taking to fences at the first time of asking.

This looks a decent opportunity for SWNYMOR to get back on the winning trail. Tim Vaughan's classy Flat recruit justified odds-on favouritism with little fuss on his jumps bow at Newbury in December but blotted his copybook with a last-flight fall at Chepstow last month. He was in complete control of that Grade 1 event before departing and will be hard to beat with a clear round here. Aazif ran well on his NH debut here recently and will be found races in this code, but hurdling newcomer Uriah Heep may be the main threat to the favourite.

Watch out for: Uriah Heep (7)

Swnymor looked set to land last month's Grade 1 Finale Hurdle at Chepstow before falling at the last and has been found a good opportunity to make amends. Aazif was a runner-up over C&D on his debut over timber and can fill the same position now, while Uriah Heep is an interesting recruit to hurdling.

Swing Bill looks a likely type for this sort of event but David Pipe's Becher Chase fourth doesn't have much leeway off his current mark. West End Rocker is back on a competitive rating and shouldn't be overlooked, with Monkerty Tunkerty another of note, but the vote goes to MARUFO. He made a winning seasonal debut when beating the reopposing Dashing George in a race of this nature at Aintree in October and the decision to sit tight and keep him away from the worst of the ground during the winter could pay dividends this afternoon.

Top Tip: Marufo (8)
Watch out for: Monkerty Tunkerty (7)

Monkerty Tunkerty is not fully exposed as a handicapper, and he can go well if more use is made of him than when fifth at Sandown last time. Swing Bill makes plenty of appeal on this season's form, while Marufo is the sort who will have benefited from a break after winning a similar event at Aintree in October.

A captivating contest which sees 2011 Champion Bumper victor Cheltenian make his first appearance since that impressive Festival triumph. He's certainly entitled to need the run, however, and will do well to get the better of Valdez, Minella Forfitness, Snake Eyes and NEW YEAR'S EVE. Marginal preference is for the latter, who showed high-class form in the NH Flat sphere last term and has bumped into River Maigue and the highly-touted juvenile Ptit Zig on his two starts over hurdles thus far. It could be a case of third time lucky for John Ferguson's charge.

Watch out for: Minella Forfitness (2)

A cracking novice hurdle in prospect. The highly-regarded pair Snake Eyes and New Year's Eve both have expensive defeats to cast aside, whilst the smart Cheltenian is fascinating on his belated hurdling debut, but Minella Forfitness looks the safest option after a taking course success recently despite not looking the finished article.

Hot Whiskey is an unexposed handicap newcomer but preference is for stablemate JETNOVA, who is 1lb below his last winning mark and has showed up very well in a couple of polytrack 'jumpers' bumpers' the last twice. Knight Pass has long been considered a very good horse in the making but he's yet to cut the mustard over hurdles and, barring strong market support, might be one to watch on his first run since pulling up at Haydock in November. Velator was on a steep upward curve when last seen but that was nearly 12 months ago and he resumes in a higher grade.

Watch out for: Knight Pass (1)

Knight Pass was disappointing on his debut for the Pipe team at Haydock in November but remains with potential and is worth another chance back from a break. Cocacobana, Harvey's Hope and Velator head the dangers in an open race.

Last year's John Corbet Cup winner RUMBURY GREY couldn't live with Chapoturgeon et al at a bog-like Newbury last month but Steve Flook's towering gelding is worth another shot back on more suitable ground. He is unbeaten in races of this nature away from soft going and his stamina is assured. Postmaster was fourth to Salsify in the Champion Hunters' Chase at Stratford last June and warmed up for a return to park fences with a spin on the Flat at Wolverhampton recently, while Dante's Storm won a point just over a fortnight ago and is another to consider.

Top Tip: Rumbury Grey (3)
Watch out for: Postmaster (2)

Rumbury Grey will find this more suitable than when behind Chapoturgeon on his return, and is a more reliable proposition than Postmaster. Dante's Storm may prove a bigger threat, and he bolted up when tongue tied for his latest run in points.
