Alexandria didn't handle the turf last time but won her penultimate race on dirt and although stepping up in class here, can be given a chance. Wilderness Call won a similar race last time and Back Bay Bea was third against much tougher company. They hold sound claims here but might find one too good in TRIJONIA. She was an easy winner in a tougher race over 4f last time but has scored over this trip and looks a class above her rivals here.
Lucy Valentine was heavily bet on her debut and showed plenty of early pace before finishing third. Gorgeous Mistress has been even more impressive in her two starts and was beaten just a nose last time. This is tougher, however, and she's likely to find one too good in MICKEES TORNADO, just beaten in a similar race last time and the fastest of these on dirt.
Several of these are in the midst of winning runs and the hat-trick-seeking Patriots Image and Roma Royale should go close. Immune To Gloom has won her last three races and has room to improve on what is just her fifth start. The one they have to beat, however, is SHE'S ROSALIE JANE, on a five-timer here and winner of six of her last eight starts. She's scored by eight and ten lengths in her last two races and goes from strength to strength.
DIXIEWINK improved on a good debut run when stepped up in trip last time. He clocked the fastest time on dirt of these when a close third over 6f and tackles a route distance for the first time today. It should provide the ideal opportunity for him to open his account. X Marks The Spot was a close second last time and looks the main danger, while Tactical Brush, who enjoyed a good 5f workout this week, could run well.
Fuzzy Star has clocked the fastest time over this trip but hasn't run for 56 days and seems to have lost the winning habit. He's A Mystery ran up a hat-trick earlier in the year and remains in good form, finishing a close second in his last three starts. He should be thereabouts but preference is for ALWAYS NOBLE, winner of a $100,000 optional claimer last time. He's won tougher races than this this year and wasn't disgraced in Grade 3 company. He should have too much class for his rivals here.
Procreate held The Student to land a valuable 6.5f event in July. He hasn't found that form on turf since but will appreciate a return to dirt. The latter raised his game with a very impressive C&D victory last time out and should be thereabouts today, but it's BEEN WAVERING that rates the selection. He completed a hat-trick in a higher grade at Monmouth last time out and is likely to find pole position early on again today.
Trapped Again has been knocking hard on the door recently but may find one to good again, this time in the form of SEPARATO. He passed Blue Finally and Major Mecke to score here last time out. This slightly longer trip should be in his favour and he represents a hot trainer/jockey combo. Private Lap may be allowed an easy lead from the rail post and looks a threat.
EBONY BREEZE took this race by 3l from Umpateedle last year and looks the one to beat again. He is running back into form again and, after landing a valuable sprint he went close in a Grade 2 at Saratoga latest. There could be more to come. Sensibly Chic should provide the strongest challenge if she can put her latest run behind her as she landed a Grade 2 event in style on her penultimate outing.
SWEET SCIENCE filled the runner-up berth in a higher grade over 1m3f here last time out, following her victory over 1m here ahead of Coherent the time before. She gets the nod back over a shorter trip, but Sunup's second in a similar event at Philadelphia makes her a serious threat. Elsewhere, Lady Prantlack made the frame on her hat-trick bid latest and is on the upgrade.
BRUCEYBRUCEYBRUCEY put up by far the highest last speed-figure when romping home over an extended 1m here. This is slightly tougher but a repeat performance should suffice. Safebreaker is improving with each run and, with connections in top form, he should make his presence felt on his fifth racecourse outing. Upscaled has gone close to that elusive second victory on his three appearances this term and could go close again here.
