FRAMPTON made a winning start to life over hurdles when returning from a break at Uttoxeter and gets a tentative vote for a yard in excellent nick. Blaklion also hit the ground running with a gutsy success at Perth, justifying odds of 4/9, and clearly deserves plenty of respect. The only mare in the line-up Supreme Present was behind a couple of subsequent winners at Newton Abbot and may have been freshened up by a short break. The returning pair of Present View, winner of a Listed chase at the Festival here, and Vicente, an unexposed contender for the champion trainer, are worth monitoring for support in the betting.

The early signs were positive for COURT MINSTREL at Newton Abbot, where he produced a sound round of jumping to score on his chasing debut, and he looks the one to side with under penalty. Thomas Crapper loves it at this track, though, as proven by his record over hurdles here last term and may be able to make a winning start to life over the bigger obstacles. Chris Pea Green is another contender who boasts some decent form over timber and has to enter calculations.

Henryville has left a favourable impression on his two starts since a summer break, winning a competitive Newton Abbot event before following up at Fontwell last time, and a 7lb conditional jockey negates most of a 9lb hike in the weights. HIGHLAND RETREAT made plenty of progress over hurdles last term and gets the nod on her first effort over fences. Harry Fry's inmate won on her reappearance last term, so a 220-day absence isn't especially off-putting, and she is a former point winner so fencing could be her game. The Romford Pele is an attractive alternative, though, as he was last sighted winning the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter and has run well at Prestbury Park in the past. Lamb Or Cod scored here in April and completes the shortlist after some decent efforts in the summer.

COMMISSIONED has yet to register a win in his three attempts over hurdles but he has some outstanding form on his CV, most notably when fourth in Grade 1 company last time out. If fully tuned up on his reappearance, he should prove very tough to beat. Ballybolley was bitterly disappointing when turned over on his reappearance at Perth having run out a gritty winner of a Grade 2 Aintree bumper in April. He got warm beforehand and raced far too keenly that day, but he was beaten at a very early stage and has a point to prove now. Its A Sting and Bjornlucky are worth a second look.

BALBRIGGAN has found a new lease of life since joining Gordon Elliott, running out an easy winner over hurdles at Perth most recently. POETIC VERSE was narrowly denied by an improving rival off this mark at Cartmel on her last NH outing and she has since showcased her wellbeing with an easy success on the flat. She is still open to plenty of improvement over hurdles and she can land the finale. Dangers abound, with Mountain King feared most on his seasonal reappearance. He will probably come into his own over further but this stiff track ought to suit and he can go close. Vibrato Valtat was last seen finishing third in a Grade 3 and he is respected despite the burden of top-weight, while Hammersly Lake is also worthy of consideration.
