Runner-up in the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Chepstow in October to Celtic Dino and went one better in a valuable handicap hurdle at Ascot (1m 7 1/2f) this month when beating Indemnity three lengths off a mark of 121. Stepped up on that effort when scoring by six lengths from Helnwein in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham (2m 1/2f) on Sunday.

Trainer says

I thought I had him the best I have had him going into the Greatwood. He was stepping up again but to get away like he did after the last was a proper performance. It’s quite nice to have a horse like him as we haven’t had a lot of two-mile hurdlers. We have had two cracking weekends with him, and I am minded that he has done it twice in a fortnight and on slower ground this time. He has given us plenty to ponder over now.

He is a lovely consistent horse, but the handicapper knows where he is. He is not very big and finds it hard in a 0-130 with topweight and he is not quite good enough to go up in grade. He is quite difficult to place at the moment, but he is so consistent and always turns up.

I was disappointed with him the other day at Carlisle, but he did come back with a fat joint. He seems alright now and he took a couple of runs to come right in his bumpers so we will look for some improvement. Once he has got a mark, he will be away.

He has been an absolute stalwart for the yard. He always turns up well when fresh and two mile and five around Cheltenham is his perfect trip. He jumped magnificently in front on Friday, and it was great so see him gain a well-deserved win. We would be looking at the Veterans’ Final for him now.

He is a solid horse who always saves a bit for himself but ran well at Exeter recently. Those 0-115/0-120s handicaps would be ideal. I think there is one for him back at Exeter in three weeks’ time.

He is in and well and hasn’t run for a couple of years because of various injuries. He is a Galileo who was rated as high as 104 on the Flat and he has schooled well. He will be ready to run in early December, but I am sure he will take a run or two to get really fit.

She is quite a smart little filly, and we have just had a little setback with her, but she will be ready to run before Christmas. I quite like her, and I don’t know if we are going to run her in bumpers or hurdles as time has been ticking away a little bit.

He won nicely last week at Kempton, and he is quite a workmanlike horse with a great attitude. He is not the quickest on the gallops but just seems to be getting the hang of it on the track.
