Gavin Cromwell is a farrier by trade, but his attentions have very much been focused on training in recent years and he has risen to a prominent standing in the National Hunt trainer ranks in Ireland.
It has been since the 2018/19 season that Cromwell has taken his training career up to another level, with high-profile horses such as the much-missed Espoir D’Allen, Vanillier and Flooring Porter giving him memorable winners on the biggest stage of the sport at the Cheltenham Festival.
In 2025, the County Meath maestro landed the sport's most prestigious prize, the Cheltenham Gold Cup, with Inothewayurthinkin and captured the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase with Stumptown. Both are bidding to defend their titles as part of a Cheltenham Festival team that Cromwell talked about to Kevin Blake of attheraces.com.
