DOCTOR DEX made an encouraging debut over hurdles when finishing second at Musselburgh last month and that form gives him a big chance this afternoon. Constancio is another who has been knocking on the door and he could pose the biggest threat to the selection. Garbanzo was far from disgraced in a Grade 2 at Ascot on his first start over obstacles and it would be no surprise to see him take a hand in the finish.
A low-mileage, progressive staying handicapper on the level, GARBANZO was ultimately let down by his jumping on hurdling debut at Ascot last month. However, that was a much stronger contest and he ought to have derived plenty from that initial experience, so much better can be expected now. Bumper-scorer Bally Conor, Doctor Dex and Constancio are a trio of others expected to be in the shake-up.

Niven won well on his debut for these connections at Hexham 23 days ago but the 6lb penalty he has to carry is a concern and he ran at Huntingdon yesterday, finishing a creditable third. This could go the way of JET SET, who thrives on good ground and wasn't disgraced when fourth at Aintree in good company last time. Simply A Legend would have a leading chance if retaining all of his old ability, but hasn't been seen since March 2016, while Thosedaysaregone has disappointed so far over hurdles but performed with promise in the Grade 2 Aintree mares' bumper and the Irish raider is interesting.
It never really clicked over fences for BRAAVOS, but the assessor has taken a big chance with his mark back over the smaller obstacles, and representing an in-form yard, he could be the way to go. Blue Hussar was placed over C&D in November and he should be competitive again, while the market will surely help assess the long-absent Simply A Legend.
