CHAPARRAL PRINCE went the right way after a wind operation when runner-up over C&D over the Christmas period and he looks open to further improvement in this sphere. Flaminger finished second on his sole outing in a French NH Flat race and is an interesting recruit to a stable that does well with juveniles, while Alan King inmates Tiffin Top and Running Cloud are both capable of better than they showed on their hurdling debuts.
TIFFIN TOP is the pick of these on Flat form and showed enough on hurdling bow to think he could be as good over obstacles so he gets the vote to improve past Chaparral Prince, who sets the standard based on his C&D second last time. Flaminger, an interesting recruit from France, is the pick of the others.

LOMACHENKO benefited greatly from wind surgery as he got off the mark at the second time of asking over timber at Leicester over an extended 2m4f. The manner in which he went away from the opposition suggested the rise to 3m1f could see him take another step forward. Larkbarrow Lad's Ascot second just before Christmas gives him solid credentials, with the extra half-mile likely to play to his strengths, while Bailarico can prove better than his Leicester third having received a penalty for a walkover at the same track the time before.
LARKBARROW LAD has a slightly awkward manner but he sets a clear standard and is taken to get off the mark. Lomachenko impressed on the back of a wind operation and 10 weeks off at Leicester recently and looks the main threat.

MERCIAN PRINCE won this 12 months ago off a 5lb lower mark and shaped at Ludlow over an inadequate trip last month as though he would benefit from the outing. The eight-year-old followed up his success in this contest with a Wetherby victory off 2lb higher than today's figure, and this may be the time to catch him. Amour de Nuit has been in good form recently but has a career-high rating to contend with, while Casse Tete looks best of the remainder.
POKER SCHOOL has plenty of good form from higher marks and boasts a superb record at this track, so he could end a losing run here at the expense of the reliable Amour de Nuit, who might not have finished improving as a chaser just yet. Mercian Prince isn't out of it either.

Stamina just found Speed Company out when he travelled well before settling for third at Doncaster, while Eddiemaurice did it well over course and distance recently but a 6lb rise will make life tougher. Oakley remains capable of much better and he confirmed his promise with a win at Ludlow, but it might be worth chancing class-dropper JOHN CONSTABLE at the likely prices. The ground can't be fast enough for Evan Williams' charge, who is now 11lb below his last winning mark.
SPEED COMPANY is getting the hang of hurdling now and his mark is an attractive one given his Flat ability, so he's appealing with this flat track right up his street. Eddiemaurice ended 2018 with a C&D success and he can remain competitive, with Dino Velvet also of interest.
