Smart Flat recruit GOODWOOD STARLIGHT won a Fakenham maiden hurdle in good style in March and although unable to follow up when favourite at Stratford last month, he remains capable of a good deal better and should take plenty of beating if settling in the early stages. Hobsons Bay has yet to justify his lofty price tag but it's far too soon to be writing him off and he could be dangerous. Hurdling newcomer Just Rio may prove best of the rest.
This looks a very good opportunity for Goodwood Starlight. Hobsons Bay is the only other one with form over hurdles, though Baralaka ought to do better than he has so far.

RIPTIDE made an immediate impact over fences at Wetherby last month, ultimately winning by 15 lengths eased down. However, his jumping was anything but fluent and he will need to have sharpened up in the fencing department if he's going to defy a penalty and add to his tally today. The lightly-raced Rupin could give the selection most to think about, while Cabbyl Doo and Downward Spiral are also entitled to respect.
With Riptide far from convincing despite winning on his debut over fences, he's one to oppose at likely short odds, with chase newcomer Rupin the obvious alternative. Downward Spiral is also of interest on his first start over the larger obstacles.

Plenty of previous course winners in with chances, not least top weight SCHINKEN OTTO. Malcolm Jefferson's vastly experienced gelding handles any ground but prefers to hear his hooves rattle and last month's second - his first outing since November - left the impression there was more success on the horizon. Troodos Jet also arrives on the back of a creditable runner-up effort and he is back on his last winning handicap mark. Authentic Act looks a good each-way alternative.
Authentic Act will appreciate the drop back in trip and is just preferred to Schinken Otto, who also goes well round here.

The lightly-raced gelding put in his best effort to date when third at this track in November and although beaten out of sight at Wetherby when last seen in February, the switch to handicaps could spark some improvement. What's Occurrin and course winners Winged Farasi and Mardood are all entitled to be thereabouts on their best form.
Eliades Run is very unexposed and needs a market check ahead of his handicap debut, but What's Occurrin will find dominating a lot easier than last time and earns the vote.

Desperate Dex scored at Huntingdon on his penultimate outing and is sure to be a popular choice as he drops in grade, but he has something to prove on fast ground and it could be worth taking a chance on JUSTWHATEVERULIKE. A dual course winner and proven in quick conditions, he is now rated 6lb lower than for his last success in December 2009 and showed signs of a revival when only fading late on over 3m1f in the mud at Ayr. Sea Vanture's recent reappearance over an inadequate 2m1f can be ignored and he warrants respect.
Desperate Dex isn't proven on ground this quick, but he boasts a good strike rate over fences and looks worth risking. Justwhateverulike can chase him home.

Secret Desert showed improved form when going close over 2m last time and is another to consider.
Both Cool Baranca and The Tiddly Tadpole have solid C&D efforts to their name recently and can be expected to go well, but Andorn is lurking on a very tempting mark based on his Flat form and has to be the call.
