CONSTITUTION HILL created a deep impression when scampering clear after the final flight over C&D on his Rules debut last month. The form of that contest has substance to it, with the runner-up having displayed plenty of ability in bumpers and on his hurdling debut, and Nicky Henderson's gelding can only improve for that experience. Mr Glass stays further, having won the French Furze at Newcastle, and he is expected to make this more of a stamina test now back at the minimum distance. That is likely to suit Shallwehaveonemore, who was too keen on his hurdling debut when second at Ascot in October and it seems significant connections opt to come here rather than an ordinary novice/maiden contest.

Jane Williams won this race three years ago with a lightly raced sort, so Hermes Boy has to be respected after getting off the mark in an Exeter novice hurdle last time. Volkovka won well at Carlisle two starts ago and ran a cracker off 9lb higher over further here last time, but another 5lb rise could prove harsh, while Navajo Pass has dropped to just 3lb higher than his last winning mark and has won a Grade 2 since then. Preference, though, is for MACK THE MAN, who took third in the Imperial Cup here last term and returned to action with an accomplished win at Wincanton. Just 3lb higher than that latest run, Evan Williams' charge can strike.
