Having made his mark in bumpers, Harry Fry's gelding scored emphatically on his hurdling bow in the mud at Newton Abbot in October - form which received a huge boost when the runner-up, Thunder Rock, scored comfortably at Wetherby next time. Nicky Henderson's Constitution Hill, a 120,000-pound recruit from the pointing ranks, looks the most interesting of the remainder.

The progressive Volkovka is an obvious alternative after an impressive win at Carlisle on her return but she has been raised 9lb and isn't guaranteed to relish this longer trip as much as point-to-point winner SHIROCCO'S DREAM. THIRD TIME LUCKI has looked every inch a top-notcher over the larger obstacles with a pair of exemplary displays at Cheltenham to begin his career. Now comes the acid test, though in Grade 1 company, which he is taken to pass with flying colours for last year's winning connections. An impressive winner at Warwick last month, Edwardstone had a head to spare over the selection in the County Hurdle back in March and he would look to be the main danger here. CHACUN POUR SOI has only gone right-handed three times in his career, but when he has it has been a joy to behold, and if the same horse turns up that demolished his rivals at Punchestown back in April, this may be no contest. The nine-year-old is not too dissimilar from Willie Mullins' only winner of this race, Un de Sceaux, and if allowed to dictate up front, recent Shloer Chase winner Nube Negra will have to go some to peg him back. An intriguing contest which features the return of METIER, who looked a star in the making when hacking up in the Tolworth Hurdle at this track in January.
