Fang ran well for a long way when third in a large-field maiden at Newbury two weeks ago and sets the form standard on that run. However, it might be worth taking a chance on RETURN OF THE MAK, a 72,000gns foal that represents a stable that can ready a newcomer and won this contest 12 months ago with a debutant. Rivers Of Asia took a forward step when third at Kempton last month and could also finish on the premises, likewise You N Me.

Watch out for: Fang (3)

FANG has yet to match the form which saw him finish just behind Shalaa in the spring, yet Brian Meehan's colt sets a good standard in this field, and can make his fifth start a winning one. Return of the Mak and Flyboy are both interesting newcomers from leading yards, with You N Me another to note on the back of a couple of promising efforts.

OUT AND ABOUT was fourth in a Newbury maiden on debut and given how well that race has worked out since, with the runner-up landing Listed honours and the third winning an Epsom maiden, William Haggas' charge gets a strong verdict this afternoon. Colour Me Happy attracted support when narrowly touched off over the extended 1m at Hamilton latest and has place claims now dropping back in trip, likewise last-time-out Yarmouth third Possible Future.

Orvar landed Listed honours in Turkey when last sighted and was far from disgraced when previously fifth in a competitive sales race at York in August. Another big run likely beckons, though of more interest is stablemate LOG OUT ISLAND, who has landed minor money in the Flying Childers and Mill Reef the last twice and sets the form standard on those Group 2 efforts. Tim Easterby won this race in both 2012 and 2013, as well as saddling the runner-up 12 months ago, so any money for his Still On Top, who was ahead of Orvar at York, would be very interesting. Mayfair Lady looks a big threat in receipt of weight from the selection, while Mr Lupton similarly commands respect after picking up a big sales race at Doncaster.

Top Notch Tonto landed this race in 2013, though he benefitted from a three-year-old age allowance on that occasion and must give weight away to the classic generation himself this time. CELESTIAL PATH is one such beneficiary and is worth monitoring closely in the betting on his first start since finishing fifth in the 2000 Guineas. So Beloved was given a fine tactical ride to win a Goodwood Group 3 last time but has a penalty this afternoon. Zarwaan continues to give a good account of himself and could be putting in his best work at the finish.

Watch out for: Top Notch Tonto (2)

CELESTIAL PATH improved again when fifth in the 2000 Guineas. Sir Mark Prescott's charge has been absent since but undoubtedly remains with plenty of potential, and could be the way to go in this listed event. KARAKA JACK is 1lb higher than when winning this race 12 months ago (with Almuheet back in fourth) and arrives here in great order having landed the Silver Cambridgeshire last time out. He's expected to defy a 5lb rise and land a quick double. Obsidian has been outclassed in stronger races lately but is capable of making his presence felt over a C&D he was successful at in August. Dual Mac is a model of consistency and is unlikely to be far away either.
