WIND FIRE was left with plenty to do in a Newbury Group 3 last time, running on strongly from off the pace for a never-nearer fourth. She had run a good race in the Nunthorpe prior to that, and can take full advantage of this drop in class. Medicean Man did little to dispel the suspicion his close second in the Kings Stand was a fluke when turned over at this level last time, but he has an obvious chance if bringing his A-game. The reliable Speed Hawk won't be far away, and Kingsgate Native also enters calculations.

Top Tip: Wind Fire (12)
Watch out for: Medicean Man (3)

MEDICEAN MAN seems to save his best for this venue and a return to the form he showed when only just denied in the King's Stand at the Royal Meeting will make him tough to beat. Wind Fire has been knocking on the door this season and is likely to be on the premises again, while Speed Hawk arrives on the back of a good third at Doncaster and may prove best of the Robert Cowell trio.

The majority of the established performers have something to prove, none more so than Romsdal, who was well beaten when seemingly having everything in his favour at Newbury last time. Hillstar hasn't recaptured his smart form of last season, and similar comments apply to Windshear who was last of nine in Turkey last month. It could be worth taking a chance on QUEEN OF ICE, who herself has been short of her best in two runs this term. She came alive towards the back-end of last season, though, and is fitted with the first-time tongue-tie this afternoon. Star Storm is progressing well at a lower level and is worth a crack at this grade.

ROMSDAL possibly wasn't over his big effort in the King George when disappointing in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury and is worth another chance having been freshened up since. Windshear was well held in Turkey last time but may provide the main threat if bouncing back to the form he showed when placed twice at this level prior to that. Forgotten Voice has a good record here and is also respected.

CABLE BAY drops back to this trip for the first time since finishing fourth in the Gimcrack two years ago, but his form over seven furlongs and a mile this term is amongst the best on offer. He should have enough pace to make a significant impact, but should he get going too late it may well be Eastern Impact who profits. Richard Fahey's charge was an excellent third in the July Cup three starts ago and commands the utmost respect. Polybius got the better of Naadirr at Newmarket three weeks ago and is seemingly on the upgrade, while Wokingham heroine Interception and Chipchase winner Aelous are also worth considering.

Richard Fahey has enjoyed a fine run of late and EASTERN IMPACT might be up to providing him with another big weekend winner. Polybius was back on the up when defeating a couple of these rivals in a Newmarket listed event last time and could be the one to give him most to do, ahead of the penalised Aeolus.

Fiercely competitive as ever, but it could pay to side with MAKE IT UP. Andrew Balding's three-year-old thrashed the useful Zarwaan at Lingfield on his most recent outing and he is clearly on an upward curve. Dangers abound, and the eye is drawn to Mr Win who landed his third win in four starts at Newmarket last weekend. Buckstay wasn't beaten far in the Ayr Gold Cup and will appreciate the return to this trip, while Outback Traveller likely still has more to offer and can make his presence felt. Richard Fahey has enjoyed plenty of big-race success recently, and Heaven's Guest and Rene Mathis look the pick of his quartet.

It was hard not to be impressed with the way FARSAKH went about her business on debut at Yarmouth. She overcame considerable greenness to stretch six-lengths clear of her rivals, creating the impression that the step up to this trip would suit in the process, and she is open to any amount of improvement with that outing under her belt. Pelerin ran a cracker to finish second in the Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster and should go close, along with Floriss and Muffri'ha, but Lucky Kristale remains unconvincing over this sort of trip.

Top Tip: Farsakh (8)
Watch out for: Pelerin (5)

FARSAKH has lots to find having won only a Yarmouth maiden but may well be up to the task against plenty of rivals who have been on the go for a while. Lucky Kristale could be the class act, but her Ascot record tempers confidence, so Pack Together could be the big danger having run well at Newmarket last week.
