Washington Irving and Best Prospect are respected, although the latter looks the prime threat, while Culcabock is usually at his best in large-field affairs run at a breakneck pace.
Mud-loving Best Prospect was a shade unlucky not to nab a third C&D victory last time and has a good chance here to gain compensation. Benny Be Good could give him the most trouble if coping with the drop in trip.

Saddlers Deal came good when inching out Folk Tune over this trip at Catterick. That should have bolstered his confidence and he should go well in this follow-up attempt. However, a chance is taken with PRINCE TAM. Lucinda Russell has her string in rude health and her Terimon gelding punctuated some moderate efforts with a convincing success here on his penultimate outing. He gets the vote in receipt of plenty of weight from the topweight. Frontier Boy rates next best.
Handicap/chase debutants Cabbyl Doo and Frontier Boy need to improve on what they've shown so far, and it's easy enough to envisage Saddlers Deal seeing off Prince Tam.

There are question marks about some of the better fancied brigade getting the trip in this ground, notably Night In Milan. He's a fine chance if staying but SUNNYSIDE has won over this trip and could represent the better option. Kings Guard is well treated at the foot of the weights but there are reservations about his stamina too, although he should get involved off his featherweight. Snake Charmer is hard to predict but is worth a second look.
Charlie Bucket and Night In Milan both command respect, but Kings Guard is likely to take some stopping off this mark. Sunnyside is better than he has shown in recent starts and may also emerge as a danger.

He is burdened with a 6lb penalty but is still preferred to Andreo Bambaleo, five and a half lengths behind the selection in the aforementioned contest. Simon West's charge was showing much-improved form that day but will have to improve again to reverse placings. Rumble Of Thunder completes the shortlist.

None arrive with cast-iron credentials but COPPER'S GOLD seems to harbour fewer concerns. He arrives a fresh horse, the stable is now firing and his latest success came with the application of blinkers (applied today). The ground is a concern and a dry night will certainly help. Flying Squad is very much a danger on the best of his form but the Harris charge has been subject to a dramatic loss of form of late. Twelve Paces rates next best.
All the runners come with doubts attached, but Copper's Gold perhaps has the fewest and arrives after a good last-time-out effort. Flying Squad might be a better option than Aitch Doubleyou for the forecast.

In a race where strong form is thin on the ground, the Whillans yard have two solid chances with TALESOFRIVERBANK and Sam Patch. Preference is for the former, who has filled the minor placing on all three outings this term, notably on his most recent effort behind Wor Rom over course and distance on similar ground. Sam Patch looks on the improve but Easter Vic rates the danger on the back of a convincing success at Ayr last time.
Talesofriverbank arrives on the back of a good effort at the track and can make the most of receiving weight all round. Sam Patch and Mrs Eff could also get involved.

KEMPSKI showed admirable battling qualities when making all to score on desperate ground at Ayr over this trip from the strongly-punted Circus Clown. The pair pulled well clear of the remainder that day and the Nixon charge will be hard to pass if replicating that level of form. Mister Pete handles this ground well and looks sure to oblige sooner or later. He rates a potent threat to the selection, while Solway Ally's chance will be improved by drying conditions.
Kempski and Mister Pete are suited by trip and ground and the former is taken to follow up last week's success despite a 7 lb rise in the weights.
