Tonnerre and THIMAAR both hold entries in next year's Derby and it will fascinating to see how the betting market takes shape in regards to their chances. Marginal preference is for the latter, whose trainer has a 22 per cent strike-rate with juveniles here over the past five seasons. Of those with experience, Mrs Greeley looks sure to appreciate the step up to a mile and Al Kazeem is entitled to improve considerably for his sighter here earlier in the month.
With so many interesting newcomers and potential improvers, the market looks the best port of call. Al Kazeem just about sets the standard of those with experience, but debutants' Thimaar, Tonnerre and Elfaaten could hold sway and are preferred in that order.

Coventry runner-up ELZAAM has been given plenty of time to recover from the problems he encountered after finishing a disappointing third in the July Stakes at Newmarket and he is still held in the highest regard by Michael Jarvis. Almost certain to appreciate the step up from 6f, he is fancied to take advantage of this ease in grade. Big Issue floundered on rain-softened ground at Ascot last time but holds leading claims on form, while Klammer was blown away by Frankel in the Royal Lodge but drops back in trip and can't be ruled out. Pearl Arch and Azrael could also enter the equation.
Elzaam has a bit to prove after his Newmarket flop but he has been given plenty of time to get over whatever was ailing him and can bounce back if taking to blinkers. Dux Scholar and Norse Blues could give him most to think about.

Poet, Ted Spread and Hot Prospect would all arguably prefer a softer surface and although CLOWANCE also likes to get her toe in, Roger Charlton's mare has high-class form on good ground and edges the vote. She hasn't raced since finishing down the field behind Harbinger in the John Porter here in April but she defied a layoff when second in the Irish Leger around this time last year and a repeat of that top-notch performance would make her tough to beat. Cumberland Lodge runner-up Whispering Gallery and the totally unexposed La De Two, who also represents Godolphin, are impossible to ignore.
Jedi has a bit to find on the figures but he has been progressing well this year and could spring a surprise now tried in pattern company. Whispering Gallery and Hot Prospect should be in the mix on form, though the latter has his stamina to prove.

MEDICI PEARL had produced two really solid efforts in defeat since winning at Hamilton in August and having won off this mark in the past, she remains feasibly treated. The once-raced Newcastle scorer Bella Noir must be considered a major threat, although her inexperience will make life tough and an initial handicap mark of 82 is hardly a gift. With that in mind, perhaps Sard can give the selection most to worry about. She relished a little ease underfoot when bolting up at Salisbury earlier this month and a 7lb rise will not be enough to prevent her challenging.
A very open contest, but Gouray Girl has long left the impression she'll be suited by this trip and could be worth chancing. The reliable Medici Pearl should get involved again, while Bella Noir is another who has to come into consideration after her impressive Newcastle debut success.

Carlton House and Estourah are other likely improvers following more than respectable debuts, while Norwegian raider Ecological looks an interesting contender with Jamie Spencer booked to do the steering.

It could pay to side with POCKETWOOD in what looks a tricky 'getting out stakes' for punters. He won with any amount in hand over an extended 1m6f at Salisbury last time and has struck twice at this venue in the past. Beau Fighter is 1lb lower than when scoring here in May last year and warrants the utmost respect under one of the more experienced lady riders, Gina Andrews, while Mykingdomforahorse and Boucheron are others worthy of consideration in an open finale.
