MAGICAL EFFECT was beaten by under a length on debut at Wolverhampton in October and rates the one to beat with the benefit of that initial experience behind him. The New Approach colt, who fetched 180,000 guineas as a yearling, represents an in-form stable and should be able to command a strong racing position from stall four. The 66-rated Twin Turbo has place claims now dropped in trip, though he's fairly exposed. A bigger danger may be Richard Fahey's newcomer Patrick.

MAGICAL EFFECT took a while to grasp what was required when a running-on second (having missed the break) on his debut at Wolverhampton in October. He will benefit greatly from that experience and is likely to prove tough to beat. Twin Turbo showed ability on turf last summer for Mark Johnston and may prove the chief threat on his AW bow for his new yard.

THE DREAM FAST ran on well in the closing stages when second over 7f on debut at Wolverhampton and is expected to step up on that effort, from a good draw, now granted this stiffer test. Glorious Asset is similarly well drawn and looks to be on an upward curve. Given he's bred to improve for this additional furlong, Ed Walker's representative is another who figures prominently on the shortlist. Any money for Ralph Beckett's newcomer Inexorable Tide, a 29,000 pound yearling, would also be notable.

THE DREAM FIRST made a highly-encouraging start when splitting a couple of next-time-out winners at Wolverhampton last month. This longer trip should be within his compass, and he has sound prospects of going one better. Glorious Asset and Muhaafiz stepped up markedly on their debut efforts last time, and the pair remain with potential to do better still.

Pharoh Jake usually goes well here but he's stepping up in grade as he bids to follow up his recent 5f victory at this track and may now have to settle for a supporting role. Of more interest is SPELLMAKER, who has been dropped 2lb for his latest effort at Kempton, putting him only 2lb higher than when striking at Bath in the summer. He's a dual C&D winner and is entitled to improve for this drop in class. Chapellerie is 5lb above her last winning rating but has place possibilities.

GOLD TRAIL needs to bounce back from a moderate effort at Wolverhampton last time but that was his first start since July and the small field and moderate pace probably counted against him too. His trainer continues to fire in the winners on the all-weather so another big run is forecast. Spiritual Star ran on well for second over 1m here latest, shaping as if worth a try over this longer distance, while C&D winner Wrood continues on an upward curve and also makes plenty of appeal.

Alfred Hutchinson was denied a clear run when fourth here last time but he remains a difficult ride and his pilot is switched again as connections look to get him back into the winner's enclosure. It could be that the fitting of a first-time visor perks him up, but BIG BAZ, who had his measure over C&D in November, makes stronger appeal. He's a big, strapping beast and lost little in defeat when a neck second at Kempton latest. Irish raider Captain Joy steps up in trip as he bids to complete the hat-trick and has strong claims on these terms.

TURNING TIMES justified favouritism in a 1m maiden here in August and looks on a fair mark now moving into handicaps off an opening perch of 77. Talented claimer Ali Rawlinson has been booked to effectively lower her weight burden by 5lb and she's therefore expected to land the double. It will be interesting to see how things pan out tactically, as the selection front-ran last time and faces opposition for the lead from Thanksgiving Day today. Chicago Bere could be keeping on well at the finish and is bred to stay this additional furlong.
