It is hard to oppose MAID OF MILAN, who on official ratings has 10lb in hand with her nearest rival Hollow Bay. The five-year-old only found the subsequent Listed winner Briary Queen too good in a similar contest at Doncaster in March and she was not disgraced when third at Fontwell a few weeks later. Hollow Bay was beaten off a mark of 105 last time but she did run well to finish second at Sandown three starts ago. The rest are extremely limited but Walk Of Gleams has shown some ability in low-grade handicaps.

Mountain Eagle would merit consideration in an open contest but he ran at Stratford yesterday, finishing third. That said, he would have to take a step forward to beat VALSEUR DU GRANVAL, who bolted up at Towcester a week ago and he looks a very dangerous prospect under a 7lb penalty. It is very hard to asses Fire Burg as this is her UK debut but it would not be the biggest surprise if a rating of 118 underestimated her ability. Lucky Jim is another who can go very well but looks up against it with Valseur Du Granval in the field.

The best run of WALKAMI'S career came when a close second in a Uttoxeter bumper on good ground a year ago. He now makes his handicap debut over hurdles, following three runs on ground with plenty of cut in it, from a workable mark and he has blinkers applied for the first time. Minstrel Royal has shown ability, without winning, on a few occasions and there could be some movement in his rating. Threebarmymen was only denied by a narrow margin over 2m here last month and the step up in trip could bring about the improvement required to defy a 4lb rise in the ratings.

After finished as a runner-up three times in a row, you could be forgiven for losing patience with SOMERSET LIAS by now. He keeps bumping into a less exposed or better handicapped horse, but with an unchanged rating of 100 and a seemingly weak field to go up against, you would have to fancy the chances of the eight-year-old on this occasion. Gowanauthat finally returned to winning ways last time, although a 4lb rise will do little to aid his cause of following up. Kayfton Pete ran well back over fences last time and would be entitled to come on for that effort, while Bally Lagan was well backed when unseating his rider at Warwick last time when tiring on the home straight and a drop to this trip should help him to avoid such an error on this occasion.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE has been running in some decent races of late, with several length defeats behind The Organist and Cloudy Dream in the earlier stages of her career. A much improved effort followed on her second handicap start last month, and she looked capable of winning a race like this. The better ground and cheekpieces appeared to suit Abyaat in his victory last time, and he should provide connections with some fun over the summer months. A 7lb rise will make life difficult, but the five-year-old could have further improvement to come. Double-handed Brian Barr's main hope appears to be Tuffstuff, and his improved performance last time plus the booking of Gavin Sheehan indicates that he is the first choice for the Dorset-based handler.
