The booking of champion jockey-elect Richard Hughes for BLANK CZECH seems significant and he has strong claims on the back of his solid Lingfield fifth in handicap company last week. A promising juvenile last summer, he has been limited to only three starts this season but clearly has the ability to win races and he has been well placed here. Bumper winner La Belle Doyenne ran well in a 1m4f maiden here last time and should do so again, while strong market confidence behind Giantstepsahead on debut would have to be respected.

Watch out for: La Belle Doyenne (4)

Hard to get away from Blank Czech, who has been found a decent opportunity to get off the mark dropping back in maiden company. Newcomer Villoresi wouldn't have to be any great shakes to grab some place money.

Night And Dance has been a shade disappointing in her two most recent starts but she is clearly capable of better, a comment that also applies to Mawaakef. Course winner Islesman is respected returning to these shores but the one who makes most appeal is INTHAR. The Godolphin representative was an unlucky loser when going down by only a head over this C&D two starts back and he again encountered serious traffic problems when forced to settle for fourth at Windsor latest. A return to winning ways beckons if Mickael Barzalona can navigate a clear passage this time around.

Watch out for: Night And Dance (2)

Ellemujie is best forgiven a disappointing return run on heavy ground last time and is capable of better back on polytrack. Inthar and Tuscania are others to consider.

One would think that the 75-rated Tarbawi would need step up on his recent Lingfield second in order to land a maiden of this nature and he looks worth opposing again. Expect improvement from Tebbit who wasn't disgraced on his Lingfield debut three weeks ago but slight preference is for ROTTINGDEAN, another who shaped with plenty of promise first time out, at Newmarket, and the market confidence behind him on that occasion suggests he is thought capable of a good deal better. Of the newcomers, Atlantis City makes most appeal representing the potent Hannon and Hughes combination.

Watch out for: Tebbit (10)

Tarwabi is easily the most experienced of the field and his recent polytrack second sets a fair standard. He can go one better here, with Rottingdean and Atlantis City feared most.

Twary went into a few notebooks when finishing third of four on his Haydock debut back in August, beaten under a length, and he should be winning races in due course, a comment that also applies to recent C&D runner-up Swift Bounty. However, the one who would appear to hold most of the aces is LILAC TREE, a promising second on his Wolverhampton debut before running another solid race in finishing third at Lingfield. The form of that latest effort is already working out well and this son of Dubawi should prove hard to beat.

Italian Riviera is sure to have plenty of supporters being stepped up in trip for his handicap debut, while Tower warrants respect on his Flat return having won a hurdle race at Fakenham last month. The vote, however, goes to Richard Hughes' mount KAMPAI. She has been knocking on the door recently and shaped as though stepping up in trip would help when a staying-on fourth over 1m2f at Bath latest.

Both have solid claims, but preference is for the in-form VIKING STORM. NET WHIZZ could prove difficult to beat on his handicap debut. The son of Mr Greeley showed that he has improved a fair bit from two to three years when readily winning his maiden over this C&D in September (second, sixth and seventh have all won since) and any further progression can see him follow up off what looks a fair opening mark of 84. Chapter And Verse has been knocking on the door and should be in the shake-up once again, while Validus and Terdaad are others to note.
