A few of these arrive with solid claims but none more so than CLOUDY DREAM, who defied a penalty to land his second bumper at Carlisle last month. He concedes hurdling experience to Marquis Of Carabas after that rival finished a highly encouraging runner-up at Southwell. Nuts Well trailed the selection in a NH Flat race at this track in April but has progressed well since then, and any market support behind the debutant Waiting Patiently might be worth noting.

Watch out for: Marquis Of Carabas (7)

NUTS WELL was a fair performer in bumpers and shaped well when second over C&D on his hurdling debut last month. With that experience under his belt, he can go one better in the opener. Marquis of Carabas also ran well on his first start over timber and is feared most, with bumper-winner Cloudy Dream next best.

A pretty tricky puzzle to solve and much depends on Presenting Junior, who should be much too good for these rivals on his fencing form but has a 131-day absence to overcome on this return to hurdles. Perhaps DELUSIONOFGRANDEUR will have a fitness edge over him after a creditable run behind an exciting prospect at Carlisle. It Is I and Ryedale Racer are worth noting on their return, and it will be interesting to see how Captain Redbeard fares after landing back-to-back point-to-points earlier this year.

Kilmainham trailed him when fourth at Perth in September, but is on the right side of a mammoth 19lb swing in the weights and arrives fresh from a creditable performance at Ayr last Saturday. Forty Crown should strip fitter for a sighter over hurdles and completes the shortlist.

Callum Bewley bids to win this race for the second year running and looks to have live claims aboard Willie Hall, who chased home an in-form performer over hurdles at Kelso. Lisa Harrison's contender is possibly stronger over timber, though, and AZERODEGREE is a more attractive option after he improved for the reapplication of cheekpieces when fourth here last month. Dundee Blue was narrowly denied at Sedgefield in May and can get on the premises if fully wound-up for his reappearance.
