NEY was soundly beaten three times in decent Flat maidens last spring but, after showing a little promise when switched to hurdles at Cork, progressed over C&D last month when staying on into fourth behind Enchanted Magic. He handles testing ground and this appears a good opportunity. Hory wasn't disgraced in a 25-runner maiden at Navan a fortnight ago and could well progress enough to take a hand, while Eastern Tornado attracted support a couple of times in Flat handicaps last year and now switches to hurdles. Any market support for Backintheroom, a half-brother to the same connections' Cheltenham Festival winner Mrs Milner, would be interesting.

CALDWELL DIAMOND only gave best inside the final furlong when fifth to Heliko Conti on debut in a Fairyhouse bumper and has plenty of scope for improvement. The form of that race has been working out quite well with a couple of subsequent winners. The Sholokhov gelding finished just four lengths behind Peaceful Sunday who went on to take a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle. Da Capo Glory provided Padraig Butler with his first winner in a Galway bumper last October and was thought good enough to take on Facile Vega in a Grade 2 last time at the Dublin Racing Festival. This certainly represents a drop in class on his hurdle debut. Galactic Grey has shown promise in maiden hurdles and is not without a chance along with So Scottish and Runway Queen.

This looks a decent opportunity for GJOUMI to open her account over hurdles. The selection won a three-year-old 1m4f bumper in France but tends to race with the choke out and has been quite lightly raced for present connections. She ran well before falling at the last in a maiden hurdle won by Gua Du Large at Thurles as a four-year-old but things haven't really gone to plan this season completing just one of three starts. This looks an easier assignment compared to Wexford last Sunday where she fell four out in the race won by better-fancied stablemate Arctic Warrior. Premier Queen steadily progressed in four bumper starts last season culminating in a victory at Clonmel. The market should give a guide to her fitness after a 12 months' absence, while Sadie's Pride is another bumper winner in the line-up and has gained some experience over hurdles.

MISE RAFTAIRE gets the vote to take advantage of his lowly mark. The lightly-raced son of Dylan Thomas appeared not to stay three miles on his handicap hurdle debut at Punchestown but ran a cracker over 2m4f at the same venue when third to Indie Belle. The winner went close to following up at Leopardstown last Sunday while the runner-up in that race, Wild Hunt, has since bolted up at Clonmel. Dancing Jeremy is a danger at the top end of the handicap. He's come back from a lay-off in good form for Tom Cooper winning both over fences and hurdles on this testing ground. Rock Of Tuskar has gone up 8lb for winning at Limerick last month, while Kingston Kid, Danegeld and Junior Bee are others for the shortlist.

He won a beginners' chase at this venue last season and, having held every chance when falling three out here in the race won by Bois De Clamart, ran a cracker when runner-up to Spyglass Hill in the Tim Duggan at the Limerick Christmas meeting. This drop back to 2m2f should suit having faded last time in the closing stages of the valuable Leopardstown Chase at the Dublin Racing Festival. The application of blinkers this term has rekindled the spark in Bois De Clamart and he reverts to fences with a chance. Willie Mullins appears to hold the key here saddling AIONE and Shadow Rider, with the pair both switching to fences after a lengthy absence. The market should provide significant clues. The selection won a four-year-old point-to-point at Dromahane for Donnchadh Doyle and was a useful sort over hurdles winning twice including at this venue. He's not been seen since finishing in mid-division behind stablemate Monkfish in the 2020 Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham. Shadow Rider also won a four-year-old maiden point-to-point for Colin Bowe at Knockanard and having won a 2m4f maiden hurdle at Limerick, was also tried in Grade 1 company last spring. Navan maiden hurdle winner Joshua Webb was absent for 13 months before switching to fences this winter. He drops back in trip and is fitted with cheek pieces for the first time.

The last two winners of this prestigious hunter chase both line-up and ALONEAMONGMILLIONS gets the vote. The Sam Curling-trained gelding had Macs Legend about 20 lengths back in third when landing this race in 2020 and, following a year out, made a successful return between the flags in a Turtulla open event in January. Solomn Grundy was a useful handicap chaser and struck twice in hunter chases last year winning this in good style before following up at Fairyhouse. However, he's not hit the same heights in point-to-points this winter and was soundly beaten by the veteran Macs Legend at Bandon less than a fortnight ago.

MONBEG PARK cost 65,000 as a store at the Goffs Land Rover Sale and won his only point-to-point start in good style at Tattersalls last November beating Snowy Evening and Zaidi. That form has been working out nicely as Snowy Evening was just denied in a bumper at Carlisle on Thursday and the third won a point-to-point at Moig. Henry de Bromhead is bidding to land this race for the fourth successive year with Bob Olinger and Journey With Me having taken the latest two renewals. He's represented this time by Arctic Bresil who has been a shade unfortunate not to score in two point-to-point outings. He was just denied in another division of the aforementioned Tattersalls maiden last November which was run in a time five seconds slower. Kalanisi Star was bought for £65,000 at Cheltenham in December just after winning a point while Kitsilano and Serious Operator have also won between the flags.
