HIGHLAND VALLEY was far from disgraced in a Grade 2 contest at Cheltenham over 3m last time and, providing the drop to this trip does not catch him out, he can return to winning ways. Araldur has been knocking on the door of late and there is every reason to expect another big run from him. Ruby Bay, an impressive winner of a point-to-point last year, commands respect on his NH debut.
There's little between Highland Valley and Araldur on hurdles form, but the former looks open to the more improvement. Cap Elorn has yet to fulfil his potential over hurdles but it'll be no surprise if he puts up a better show this time.

SPIRIT SON ran out an impressive winner on his British debut at Huntingdon over 2m1f last month and he can take this en route to the Supreme Novices' hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Cedre Bleu won with plenty in hand at Newbury last month and there could be plenty more improvement to come from him so he rates an obvious danger. Battle Group is a decent performer and it would be churlish to leave him out of calculations.
Classy French imports Spirit Son and Cedre Bleu have wasted little time making their mark for new connections and look the pair to concentrate on, with a strong preference for the former.

DEFINITY got off the mark over fences at Fontwell in good style last month, beating Straw Bear by six lengths, and he is open to further improvement over larger obstacles so he could take plenty of beating again. Bakbenscher finished a good third in a Grade 3 contest at Cheltenham last month and a reproduction of that effort would give him solid claims. Dover's Hill, The Sliotar and Bench Warrent also command respect.
Definity has taken well to fences and this looks another ideal stepping stone en route to even better things. If The Sliotar can overcome his jumping problems then he too should play a leading role.

KIND OF EASY won a bumper at Huntingdon last year and, although he finished well beaten on his hurdles debut at Plumpton, better can be expected from him this afternoon. Water Garden, who finished runner-up in a bumper on his debut, should improve on his hurdling debut effort at Plumpton last month and he is worthy of consideration. Surf And Turf is one to monitor closely on his debut and Golden Chieftain is also of interest.
Golden Chieftain has struggled since winning at Chepstow in November, but he will be more at home at this level and can prove too strong for promising Newbury third Ravastree. Joker Choker should relish this stiffer stamina test and may fare best of the rest.

Inside Dealer has been running consistently well of late and should be in the thick of the action once again, but slight preference is for AS DE FER. Anthony Honeyball's gelding didn't have to come out of second gear when scoring on just his second chase start at Ffos Las last month and a 12lb hike in the handicap may not be enough to prevent him from going in again. Or Bleu will love the forecast soft going and has winning course form.
Qulinton's best efforts are under less testing conditions but he looks the one to be with after his second at Wetherby which represents strong form. The thriving Inside Dealer looks a big player, while impressive Ffos Las winner As de Fer also needs considering in a warm race.

The well-bred son of Lost World cost 110,000 euros as a yearling and Paul Nicholls will have him fit enough to do himself justice at the first time of asking. Trade On and Ballabrace look best of the experienced runners, while Fingal Bay is an interesting newcomer from the Philip Hobbs stable and he could be worth monitoring in the betting market.
Ballabrace has had the form of his debut effort franked by the first and second, and will be hard to beat for all Trade On is open to plenty of improvement. Fingal Bay makes most appeal of the newcomers, although The Tatkin also needs a market check.
