Smellinsmoke shaped encouragingly on his debut here last month and he should be on the premises but slight preference is for MEB who also showed promise at the first time of asking and is sure to improve for that experience. Gloucester could be capable of better than he has shown so far and he also commands respect.
Bill City is capable of better than he showed last time and he is worth a second look whilst Mr Shumaker can also be expected to give a good account. However, the one to be on could be ROYAL AND FLASHY, who won well over this C&D on his latest outing back in May.
There is probably improvement to come from Luckoftheirish and she is worthy of a place on the shortlist along with Athenian Promise who finished runner-up over 6f here last month. JUST ENOUGH is also open to improvement and might not have to step up too much on her second over this C&D last month to land this.
MISS DIXIE DOODLE wasn't far away in second over this C&D last month and she hasn't too much to find to get back to winning ways tonight, especially as she has a decent strike-rate over this distance. Count Ree has been heading in the right direction since her return to action. She's entitled to progress further and should be in the frame. Time Of The Night makes up the shortlist.
Troy Young's charge AUTHENTIQUE won with more than a little in hand over 7f at this track in June and, despite this step up in class, he can follow up tonight. Vera Belle has impressed in her four career starts to date. She won a maiden over an extended mile at Lone Star and is a danger if at her best. Da Blaz N Bells may reward each-way backers at a big price.
LOTHARIO gets a tentative nod ahead of Ethanhaul here due to his previous experience over this trip. He was held into second on his penultimate start over this course and distance and put in a similar effort over an extra half furlong. Ethanhaul made all to win over six and a half furlongs but had his previous form over further. Ainsley's Man won convincingly on debut and is impossible to rule out with confidence.
