Irish trainer Jimmy Lambe does well with his Scottish raiders and Vivaldi has won in this grade at Ballinrobe but has plenty to do here, giving weight to all his rivals. Darna won a maiden hurdle over C&D this month in good style and must be given every chance here despite stepping up in class. It might be worth, however, taking a chance here on hurdling newcomer FREDDIE BROWN, an impressive winner of a Kelso 'bumper' last spring. If he takes to hurdles, he might have the measure of these rivals.
Easy enough to whittle this down to a handful. Proud Times is of serious interest now hurdling given what he achieved on the Flat, but Darna is narrowly preferred following a successful debut over C&D. Desert Cry looks best of the rest.

Three of BALLABRIGGS' four successive wins have come over fences but he landed a similar contest to this over 2m 6f at Wincanton this month and, with this slight drop in trip likely to suit, looks capable of making it five in a row. Irish raider Yes Tom was a well-held third at Down Royal latest but has claims here on his excellent effort at Aintree last November, while Vivona Hill, twice a winner in 'bumpers' can be given a chance on his hurdling debut but his 22-month absence is a worry.
The drop down in trip is hardly ideal for smart staying chaser Ballabriggs, but he still looks the most likely winner under his penalty. Kings Grey and Yes Tom are others worth considering, whilst any serious market move for the long-absent Vivona Hill should be heeded.

This looks a good opportunity for PREMIER SAGAS to break his duck over fences at the fourth time of asking. He's improved with each of his outings to date and his close second over C&D this month came in a better contest. Dropped in grade today, he can land the spoils. Benny Be Good and Catch Bob were first and second respectively in a similar contest to this over this trip at Sedgefield last time out in November and look set to fight out the minor placings today.
Premier Sagas just about sets the standard, but he doesn't entriely convince with his jumping, so Benny Be Good is put up instead. Catch Bob also needs considering.

Festival King is running well but looks in need of some help from the handicapper before scoring again. Irish challenger Schindlers Society scored over 2m 4f here this month but is up 6lb and in class today. It could be worth taking a chance on SEVEN IS LUCKY, making his first appearance since scoring over 3m 1f at Carlisle last April. He made steady progress last season, shouldn't be inconvenienced by this drop in trip and may not have much to find on his last effort to score here.
Few can be ruled out in this competitive handicap chase. Recent course winner Schindlers Society could have more to offer and is an obvious starting point, but Festival King's reliability makes him a slightly more attractive proposition, especially in view of his improved effort last time. Deuteronomy could fare best of the rest.

This looks the ideal opportunity for BLACKPOOL BILLY to record his first win over fences after three starts. Off the track for two years, he's finished second twice since his return and looked sure to go very close at Catterick latest before blowing his chance with a penultimate-fence blunder. Jumping can be a problem but he will be difficult to beat with a clear round. The Cockney Squire has been well held on two recent placed efforts but is still improving and looks the danger. Pamak D'Airy has claims on his best form.

Plenty in with chances here but it could pay to side with progressive hurdler WHASTON. He's been mainly running on the all-weather this winter but has made good progress in three runs over timber and appears to have very little to find on his recent third at Musselburgh to land this. Super Ally is also going the right way and just missed out over 2m 4f at Carlisle last March but hasn't run since and is up 6lb in the ratings today. Rafta has been placed on his last four starts but has been well held and needs to improve.
Emirate Isle still appears leniently treated on his Sedgefield win and simply went off too hard last time, so he's well worth another chance. Whaston may do better on only his fourth stat over hurdles and cannot be ruled out, a comment which also applies to the mercurial Rafta.

Point-to-point winner Gris Lord was third at Down Royal on his debut under Rules but the Irish raider needs to improve to land the spoils here. Scales, Zaru and Blazing Bay have shown enough to be given chances but preference is for ANYCHANCEDAVE. This big horse may need a lot further in future but is entitled to improve for the experience of his debut third, hails from a yard with an outstanding record in this sort of contest and could prove too good for these rivals.
Scales, Anychancedave and Gris Lord all shaped like future winners in this sphere on their debuts and are preferred in that order.
