CHAMPAGNE CITY sets the standard on his Listed second over this trip at Haydock last time and is expected to give a good account of himself off top-weight on his handicap debut. Taking Libertys steps up in trip after finishing third over 7f in Group 3 company at Sandown last month and merits inclusion on the shortlist, likewise Shawaahid, who won going away over 7f at Newmarket two runs back before being outpaced over 6f at York when last sighted.

Top Tip: Champagne City (1)
Watch out for: Shawaahid (3)

A useful nursery. Richard Hannon's SHAWAAHID has the step up to 1m as a possible catalyst for further improvement and can show himself to be on a good mark. Another Touch wasn't seen to best effect over 6.5f at Doncaster last week and the extra yardage here should be more to his liking, while Reputation probably hasn't reached his limit yet and is another who should be suited by the longer trip.

Tatlisu (second), SHARED EQUITY (third), Boy In The Bar (fourth) and Eccleston (fifth) all ran sound races in defeat behind Poyle Vinnie in the Scottish Stewards' Cup. Of that quartet, preference is for the Jedd O'Keeffe inmate, a pillar of consistency who has run well over 7f twice since, most recently when third in a big 7f heat at Glorious Goodwood. Six furlongs here could be ideal for him, especially if any rain arrives. George Bowen won with something in hand at the Curragh on Sunday, while Nameitwhatyoulike ran a blinder when first home on the far side of the track in the Great St Wilfrid consolation race and must also enter calculations.

MUTAKAYYEF should prove hard to beat. William Haggas' charge has seemingly ironed out those quirks that were holding him back last year judged on a cracking effort in the Group 3 Strensall Stakes (Top Notch Tonto behind) at York on his seasonal bow. Narrowly denied on the line, the winner has since franked the form with success in the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile so another big performance should be on the cards. Of the three-year-olds in the field, Flaming Spear is clearly held in high regard, while Exosphere is improving at a rate of knots and is another to consider closely.

Top Tip: Mutakayyef (7)
Watch out for: Exosphere (11)

MUTAKAYYEF made a highly promising return to action at York last month and can go one better here, though the progressive Exosphere should also be up to figuring at this level. Top Notch Tonto can complete the places.

The eye is immediately drawn to the rapidly progressive DON'T TOUCH, who took his career tally to 4-4 when getting up in the shadows of the post to land the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon last month. He should get a ferocious gallop to aim at here and is fancied to continue on his steep upward trajectory. Lexington Abbey is drawn adjacently in stall seven and he can follow the selection home in the hands of Pat Smullen. There are plenty of familiar faces among the top-weights, and the likes of Rene Mathis, Jack Dexter and Heaven's Guest command respect, while Rivellino would have an excellent chance if reproducing his Steward's Cup third. Golden Steps and Buckstay also enter the reckoning in a typically red-hot renewal.

Jedd O'Keeffe has his string in cracking form at present and it could pay to side with his INSTANT ATTRACTION in a fiercely competitive handicap. The four-year-old showed a liking for this track when a nose second over C&D three starts ago and he was back at that level when just touched off at Ripon last time. He has a 2lb rise to deal with but looks sure to give another good account. Gabrial's Kaka is a serious horse on his day and will go close if responding positively to the first-time visor, while Mister Universe and Mutasayyid are just a couple more with claims.
