Expert Analysis
This was run in the fastest time since the race was switched from Ascot after 2010 and in just 0.33s outside the 2yo course record, reflecting a light cross/tail wind, ground that was on the quick side, and, perhaps most importantly, a strong gallop and a quality winner. They raced in 2 main groups to begin with, those drawn 1 and 3 to 5 centre to far side and the remainder (including the switched winner from stall 2) centre to near side, though they ended up more or less as one. The winner’s 24.74s for the final 2f gives a 96.5% finishing speed.
PRECISE (115 here, 112 previously) was the clear form pick but impressive even so and probably bettered the form of her Moyglare win in scoring most emphatically, as good a performance as any by a 2yo filly this season. She was not the quickest away then switched left and in rear though unhurried with the pace strong, closing in powerfully after 2f out, leading approaching the final 1f and forging clear for pressure. She stays 8f really well but is quite a fast strider and a daughter of Starspangledbanner, and may not get much further than that.
VENETIAN LACE (106 here, 98 previously) took her form to a higher level under an attacking ride, soon leading, rousted and going on more clearly well over 2f out, headed approaching the final 1f and continuing to stay on. By Masar out of a winner up to 10f, she should stay that trip and possibly a bit further.
EVOLUTIONIST (104 here, 95 previously) ran her best race yet, not the quickest away but soon in mid-field, headway to have every chance after 2f out then one paced. She would not be guaranteed to stay much further.
LEGACY LINK (103+ here, 92+ previously) shaped quite well on what was just her 3rd start, mid-field until tapped for tow 2f out then staying on nicely again. 10f/12f should suit her well next year (by Dubawi, out of 12f-winning sister to Frankel).
MOMENTS OF JOY (98 here and previously) led briefly early after a quick start and remained prominent until fading late, showing useful form again.
COMPOSING (87 here, 108 previously) has lost her way a bit of late, in mid-field until little response 2f out.
DANCE TO THE MUSIC (84 here, 100 previously) was never going all that well and eventually not knocked about. Her 4th in Canada the time before was a useful one.
MOON TARGET (81 here, 103 previously) may have her quirks and ran poorly.
