With Fighting Fifth winner Arcalis running no sort of race, it took the shine off a winning seasonal reappearance from AL EILE. Another negative is that connections fear he is unsuited to the undulations at Cheltenham. Having won over 2m4f at Aintree last year, he was unsuited by the slow pace on ground that his trainer had expressed reservations about. But he put up a gutsy performance to beat solid yardstick Mister McGoldrick. The runner-up, who had finished second to Inglis Drever in this race 12 months ago, is a hard horse to pass.
